The Apabhramsa Passages From ŚP
अंबरु अंचि समुद्द तरि भमडहि (?) डोंगरुआणि ।
सहि महु पिउ गउ कलहियउ जैव रुच्चइ तेंव आणि ॥ The Sanskrit Chāyā :
अम्बरं गच्छ समुद्रं तर, भ्रम ...... गिरीन् ।
सखि मम प्रियः गतः कलहायितः यथा रोचते तथा आनय ॥ 5. The illustration of Kasmira Apabhramsa (SP. p. 103). The text as given there :
कंवळि आळ एक ते कुदुच्छलदन्तहि विठि सुद्धि एमं इवि आलसीलंति ।
सव अंगापिदुसरासहि खवाचि दुं फलिनन्तेको आआसण अईदसि ॥
The same passage is cited at SK. p. 692 as an illustration of the speech of a lalaka (i.e.a lisper, lolling his tongue and perhaps using numerous lakāras), a type of low character in the drama. The text given there is reproduced below along with a few important variants.
कंवलिबालिए कत्ति कुडम्मलदन्ति धिद्धिलुद्धिए मइवेआलसि । लतिसोवरि जग्गिरि तुम
सहि खराविदुषोप्फलि ण लेकीसि ण आगसि ॥ Variants :
कंबलिवण्णिए, कंबलवाणिए, कंबलवालिए;
कुटुंमल; जग्गिरिक्क; पुप्फलि; लोको. The suggested partial reconstruction : कालवालिए कंते कुड्मल-दंते धिद्धि लुद्धिए मई वेआलसि । त्ति सोविरि जगि
पुप्फलिणलेकोसिणआगसि (?)॥
The Sanskrit Chāyā :
कम्बलवतिके कान्ते कुड्मल-दन्ते धिक् धिक् लुब्धिके मां प्रतारयसि ।
रात्रौ स्वपन्ती जाग्रती ............... ॥ The metre is possibly to de identified as one of the Satpadi type?. Even half has 12+8+16 Mātrās, with the rhyme scheme a/b, dle, cf.
