________________ Again the second explanation : By crushing 2 māsās of copper, 2 māșās of gold, 4. māsās of silver, 4 or 8 māsas of calamine - all these, rub them with the juice of new red leaves of Jambolanum. By crushing them all with beetle leaf, make them rubbed in a Kharala (Mortar) with the juice of leaves of Jambu for 4 days by combining them together. Next it is to be cast into a crucible. Musa (crucible) is to be made of glass. Putting (placing) the medicines into it, beetle (leaf) is to be ambukệtaṁ (taking out its juice) in the crucible. Kācamuşā (glass) crucible. Kācāmusā is to be given sampuța, covering with a Kācamuşā. Civara (a piece of cloth) made wet with the spit of tambula (Betel leaf) is to be placed on the crucible. Over it a layer of clay and cloth (coating) is to be given. Then it is to be heated on fire of seer of coal. 01 its being cooled down it is to be taken out; its (essence) becomes gold. (2) Now the process of making Kācamuşā (Crucible of Glass) :- : First fine powder of glass bangle is to be made. Then first make gund (gum) wet, (then) make the crucible by rubbing the (glass) powder with it. Some Ācāryas say thus (that) 'make crucible by rubbing (the powder), with honey instead of gund, (gum).' Then put bheșajas (medicines) into it (crucible). . Thus is the process of making the Crucible of glass. Ref. to the găthā 16 of 1st chapter. Tālam tāpyam - (take) orpiment tā Ź, golden pyrite ţă į, sulphide of mercury tā Ź, realgar tā į mercury ţă I, copper ţā 11, silver māsā 3/4, and melt them by putting them together with fire. Make their Kantakavedipatras (thorn-piercing leaves), rub the medicine with the juice of Solanum nigrum-or Makaunake (yellow bhāngra = Trailing Eclipta) for 3 days in a mortar, later on smear the leaf by putting all medicines. On its drying up, melt it in a closed (or covered) crucible. It is to be heated for a prahara. There becomes gold. via. With reference to the gāthā No. 38 of 1st chapter : : Nahiti - give bhāvanā (saturation) to mercury with the juice of musket (nahi), next give seven puțas (roastings ?) to it with the juice of Nagarbeli.. (piper beetle), then give-seven puțas (roastings) with the juice of water-lily (poyani) (Soymida febrifuga, rohiņi = Induvallabha ?), then give it cayā (dropping) of maund (10 seers) of the juice of Kūbā (droņapuspi = water -lily = lotus): Mercury is killed (calcinated) and fenfold (5).
