Chōla Rājarājakēśarivarman (Rājarāja I) 8th regnal year (993 A.D.) Tamil Records that a gift was made to the god of Tiruppanmalai on the hill by a certain Latarajavirachoļa who seems to have been a vassal of Rājarāja I. It also mentions Tiruppanmalai as a place situated in Peruntimirinaḍu which was a sub-division of Paḍavūrkōṭṭam. ARE, 19/1890, Epi.
