Tamil Jaina Inscriptions in Tamilnadu States that the images of a Yakshi named Ponniyakkiyar and a saint Naganandin (which are preserved to the present day) were cut out of the rock by Naranan, the son of Maruttuvar of Pugalā laimangalam.
