________________ rudraksham, after pooja you must take it off and replace it in its resting place. You must treat the rudraksham as Shiva himself- you cannot treat it any other way. And the bigger the rudraksham the bigger the risk. The botanical name of rudraksham is 'Elaeocarpus Granitrus' and it grows in the foothills of the Himalayas, Burma, Java, Hawaii. From one rudraksh tree only 20% of the fruits are useful. The other 80% should be eliminated. Rudraksham seeds can have one to twenty one faces. These faces are naturally formed. Each type has a particular reason and a particular use. Eka Mukhi (Single faceted): These are suitable for people born under the Nakshatras of Krittika, Uttarashada and Uttaraphalguni. They have certain effects which can be seen in detail in the following pages. Dvi Mukhi (Double faceted): These are very rare. If you check on the net you may find some Dvi Mukhis which cost 600 dollars each. However they are very powerful. You must wear it during pooja and then take it off reverently and keep it back in its place. It particularly benefits people born under the Nakshatras of Rohini, Hasta and Shravan. Thus each type of rudraksham has been described in detail in the following pages. There are various scriptural sources where one can read about rudraksh like Padma Purana, Shiva Mahapurana, Tripura Upanishad, Rama Rahasya Upanishad and Devi Purana. shantidoot | messenger of peace 176 Jain Education International For Private & Personal Use Only www.jainelibrary.org
