________________ Sivagamam Number of Rudrakshas to be worn in various parts of the body Head, 36 Ears, 1 each Neck, 32 Chest, 108 Arms, 16 each Wrists, 12 each When wearing the rudraksh if it is worn at the level of the throat or heart it is good for you. There are also rules about how many rudrakshas you should wear on different parts of your body. If you wear in the ears , it is two- one in each ear. On the top of the head it is thirty six, around your neck hundred and eight. Around the arms (like an armband) it is sixteen, around the wrists it is twelve. Please note that no rudraksh or vibhuti should be worn below the waist. Before using the rudraksham it should be purified by washing it with panchamritam (a mixture of milk, sugar, yoghurt, honey and ghee). Then it should be taken out and washed with hot water and soaked in Sesame oil (Gingelly oil) for two hours or so. This is necessary because it is a seed and if it is not treated it will dry out and fall apart. 177 amrender muni ji maharaj Jain Education International For Private & Personal Use Only www.jainelibrary.org
