The practice of yoga in today's world:
The practice of yoga has been given a lot of importance in India since ancient times. We have heard of sages who have attained miraculous powers by the practice of yoga and have spread the knowledge that they have gained through their personal experiences to other seekers to help them attain a state of bliss.
In between there was also a time when man was immersed only in worldly pleasures. However now we find that man has become unsatisfied and saturated with that and is once again seeking the path to peace.I have seen that all over the world, people are turning to yoga. I can honestly say that I have "lived” yoga with all my heart and soul and on the basis of my own experience I can say that it is extremely important to practice yoga.
Let us first understand what is yoga...
If you are walking, just walk. If you are talking, just talk. Put simplylive in the moment.Concentrate only on the task at hand. That is yoga.
In our tradition, there are 3 types of yoga: yoga of the mind, yoga of speech and yoga of the body.Yoga involves control of thought, body and mind (chit) with a pure intention. Yoga also involves meditation. If one can achieve yoga (union) of mind, speech and body one is very fortunate. When we have achieved yoga of mind, speech and body we must utilize it wisely. In the practice of yoga there are different types of postures or asanas that have been prescribed. It is best to learn them under the guidance of the Guru.
