The absence of spirituality leads to imbalance:
Nowadays the imbalance in society, eg rude behaviour is the result of a purely materialistic approach which is lacking in spiritual values.
Whether in the material world or in the spiritual sphere the seeker has to proceed with focus and determination. Single mindedness is the base of success and self realization.
Pure materialism takes one away from spirituality. We have to seek spirituality while living in the material world. As one descends deeper into the truth, the world seems increasingly irrelevant.
Put your energy into being creative:
In this world there is no shortage of goodness. We must seek goodness with a positive approach. In a garden one finds both flowers and thorns. The wise one is he who rejects the thorns and fills his basket with flowers. Use your energy positively and do not fritter it away.
Practise self discipline and determination:
Better than conquering others is to conquer one's own desires by discipline and spiritual practice. The person who keeps a watch on himself is happy in this world and the next.
A mighty warrior who has defeated hundreds in battle is still a coward if he has not conquered his own desires. In the language of spirituality, discipline refers to self discipline. By practicing self discipline we are able to bear many hardships without losing our balance. When we discipline our inner self its reflection is seen in our outward behaviour also. When there is a balance between the inner and outer selves, then divinity dawns in us. Self discipline helps us to experience our own inner awakening.
Along with self discipline, single minded focus is also an essential quality to take us to the goal. It is because of this single minded focus
