कलुषित पापकर्मों का उपार्जन करते हैं और यहाँ से मरण प्राप्त कर दुर्गतिगामी होते हैं। यही आत्मा की पराजय है, समझो।
1. Ambad, the homeless nomad, addressed himself to Yaugandharay an thus:
How be it that you are not averse to foetal existence while I am bent upon avoiding it, O continent being?
He further added: Let's endeavour to understand the issue. Sins drive man wombward invariably after fettering him. Such beings cause mass killings themselves and abet others. Such beings indulge in bloody deeds, abet others for avarice and endorse such deeds. They perjure, abet others and second such falsehood. They rise the high tide of ceaseless actions and never attempt to counter it. They commit burglary, abet others to do it and support such misdeeds. They commit felonies of all sorts, including incontinence and acquisition, prompt others to indulge in these and lend moral support to such acts. Such fatuous, unrestrained beings incessantly commit sins, multiply deeds, and immodestly attract retribution. They pile up sin on sins and are hurled into purgatory hereafter. Such is a soul defeated.
(2.) जे खलु, आरिया, पावेहिं कम्मेहिं विप्पमुक्का ते खलु गब्भवासाहि णो सज्जन्ति । ते णो सयमेव पाणे अतिवातिन्ति एवं तधेव विपरीतं जाव अकिरिया संवुडा एकन्तपण्डिता ववगतरागदोसा तिगुत्तिगुत्ता तिदण्डोवरता णीसल्ला आगारक्खी ववगयचउक्कसाया चउविकहविवज्जिता पंचमहव्वया तिगुत्ता पंचिदियसंवुडा छज्जीवणिकायसुठुणिरता सत्तभयविप्यमुक्का अट्ठमयट्ठाणढा णवबम्भचेरजुत्ता दससमाहिद्वाणसंपयुत्ता बहुं पावं कम्मं कलिकलुसं खवइत्ता इतो चुया सोग्गतिगामिणो भवति।
2. जो आर्य पापकर्म से विमुक्त हैं वे निश्चय ही गर्भावास में उत्पन्न नहीं होते हैं। वे स्वयं दूसरे प्राणियों का वध नहीं करते हैं। इस प्रकार पूर्वोक्त वर्णन से विपरीत उनका जीवन होता है। यावत् वे पापक्रिया रहित, संवृत्त, पूर्णतः पण्डित, राग-द्वेषरहित, मनोवाक्कायगुप्ति से रक्षित, मनोदण्ड वचनदण्ड कायदण्ड से रहित, माया-निदान- मिथ्यादर्शन शल्य से रहित, आत्मरक्षी, चार- कषाय — क्रोध, मान, माया, लोभ रहित, चार विकथा — राज, स्त्री, देश, भक्त से रहित, पाँच महाव्रतोंअहिंसा, सत्य, अस्तेय, ब्रह्मचर्य, अपरिग्रह से युक्त, तीनों गुप्तियों से गुप्त, पाँचों
