13. बाहर की जलती हुई आग को पानी से बुझाना संभव है किन्तु मोह की अग्नि को, समस्त समुद्रों के अनन्तजल से भी बुझाना संभव नहीं है, अर्थात् मोहाग्नि को शान्त करना दुःशक्य है।
13. Physical fire can be easily extinguished with water. Not so the fire of attachment, that defies all the oceans put together.
जस्स एते परिण्णाता, जाती-मरणबंधणा।
से छिन्नजातिमरणे सिद्धिं गच्छति णीरए।।14।। ___ 14. जो जन्म-मृत्यु-बन्धन के पूर्वोक्त कारणों को जान चुके हैं वे ही जन्ममरण के बन्धनों को तोड़कर, कर्मरज से रहित होकर सिद्धि को प्राप्त करते हैं।
14. The enlightened beings, aware of the root cause of reincarnation, alone succeed in snapping this severe bond and get over this unending chain of birth and death.
एवं से बद्धे विरते विपावे दन्ते दविए अलं ताई णो पूणरवि इच्चत्थं हव्वमागच्छति त्ति बेमि।
(इइ) तईयं दविलज्झयणं। इस प्रकार वह निर्मल, बुद्ध, विरत, निष्पाप, जितेन्द्रिय, वीतराग एवं पूर्ण त्यागी बनता है और वह भविष्य में इस लोक में नहीं आता है। अर्थात् उसकी भव-परम्परा समाप्त हो जाती है।
ऐसा मैं (असित दविल/देवल ऋषि) कहता हूँ।
This is the means, then, for an aspirant to attain purity, enlightenment, emancipation, piety, abstinence and nonattachment. Such a being is freed of the chain of reincarnations.
