His mother, Devaki who was overcome with her attachment for her son tried her best to dissuade him from his determination; but seeing that his determination was unchangeable, she said: "Dear Son! If you are bent upon taking Deeksha you must receive it wholeheartedly and with an unflinching determination. You must receive it in the right manner. You must receive the Deeksha like a lion and you must observe the principles of Sadhu Dharma in the right manner like a lion. You must carry out the vows of Sadhu Dharma in such a way that you need not be born as the son of any mother again. In other words, you should get liberated from Sansar (worldly life). "
मां की शुभेच्छा ले कर गजसुकुमाल श्री नेमिनाथ भगवान के पास गये और उत्कृष्ट भावना से दीक्षा ली। दीक्षा लेने के बाद वे उग्र तपश्चर्या करने लगे और प्रभु के दिखाये हुए मार्ग पर चलते चलते वे संयम साधना में डूब गये।
After thus receiving his mother's blessings and auspicious exhortations, Gajasukumal approached Lord Sri Neminath and accepted Deeksha from him. After being thus initiated into the Sadhu Dharma by the Lord, he became deeply absorbed in various spiritual austerities.
