ભાતું જન્મ ધરીને, જેનધર્મી થઈને કણ એવાં નર-નાર હશે જેણે શાશ્વતા તીર્થ શ્રી સંજયની યાત્રા કરી નહિ હોય? અનંત યુગોથી અનત માનવવણજાર આદિદેવને ભેટવા ધસી રહી છે, ને બાએ માઈલના પહાડની વાટ ઉમંગે કાપી, છાતીસમાણા હડા ચડી, અજબ હલાસે યાત્રા કરી રહી છે.
જે દિવસની વાત કરીએ છીએ, ત્યારે અનેક યાત્રીઓ પહાડ પરથી ઊતરતા હતા. કાળ ઉનાળે હતેા. મારવાડના એક બાપ-દીક યાત્રા કરીને ઉતર્યા હતા. દીકરો ખૂબ ભૂખે થયો હતો. બાપ પાસે દીકરાને ખવરાવવા કાંઈ નહોતું.
દીકરે રેતો રહે નહિ. પાસે વહ હતા, નીચે સંતી વાવ હતી. બાપે વડના ટેટા લાવી દીકરાને આપ્યો, ખવરાવ્યા ને પાણી પાયું.
વિમલગછના એક સાધુ ત્યાંથી જાય. તેમણે આ દ્રશ્ય જોયું. મુરસીદાબાદના એક શેઠને વાત કરી. તેઓએ ચણાના કોથળા અપાવ્યા. યાત્રા કરીને નીચે આવનારને તળેટી પર મૂઠી ચણા આપવા શરૂ કર્યા. ચામાંથી શેવ-મમરા થયો.એમાં એક વાર નગરશેઠ હેમાભાઈને મુનિવર લઈ આવ્યા તળેટીના ભાતાનું પુણ્ય સમજાવ્યું. ત્યારથી લાહો અને ગાંઠિયા ચાલુ થયા.
