________________ a small batch thus train majority of people slowly. History has shown us that man has been steadily progressing towards 'Ahimsa'. Our remote aneestors were cannibals. Then camne a time when they were fed up with cannibalism and they began to live on hunting. Next came the statge when man was ashamed of leading the life of a wandering hunter. He therefore took to agriculture and depended primarily on mother earth for his food. Thus from being a nomad, he settled down to civilised stable life, founded villages and towns to cities and from member of a family he became a member of community and a nation. All these are signs of progressive 'Ahimsa' and dimnishing 'Himsa'. 'Prophets' and 'avtars' have also taught the lesson of 'Ahimsa' more or less. Not one of them has professed to teach 'Himsa', 'Himsa' does not need to be taught, Man as a animal is violent, but as spirit he is non-violent. The moment he wakes to the spirit within he cannot remain violent. That is why 'Prophets' and 'Avtars' have taught the lessons of truth, harmony, brotherhood, justice etc all attributes of Non-violence (Ahimsa). Thus I amy conclude by saying that non-violence is more fruitful and would reap rich results and consequantly attain salvation i.e. Moksha. So start your Journey of Nonviolence from today. જ્ઞાનધારા Jain Education International ૨૭૬ For Private & Personal Use Only - જૈનસાહિત્ય જ્ઞાનસત્ર-૨ www.jainelibrary.org
