King Dhritrashtra Lost all his 100 sons in the Battle of Mahabharata because he had killed 100 birds siting on a one tree, in his past incarnation, thus he lost all his sons. If you commit violence, you will he paid back in the same coins. Thus being nonviolent is more beneficial because it brings peace, solace, serenity, calmners and tranquility, plus above all no sins are committed.
Non-violence succeeds only when we have a living faith in God. Mahavira, Budha, Jesus and Mohamed they were all warriors of peace and non-violence in their own style. We have to enrich heritage left by these world teachers. God has his own wonderful way of executing HIS plans and choosing HIS instruments. Violence can be made calm by exuding (to give off) thoughts of love and compassion. Budha calmed the mad elephant 'Nalagir' and the Robber 'Angulimala' throughs of living kindness. Saints with their wonderful power may convert others by sheer force of thoughts. One may admit that in theory non-violence is an infallible weapon and that no power on earth can be a match for the man who has achieved non-violence to the fullest extent.
But is this possible? Yes, it is a very difficult task but where there is a will, there is a way firstly one may inspire few persons to study 'Ahimsa'. These teachers would teach
