Buddhists, particularly about Dharmakirti, in retorting the euphiemistic criticism of Syadvada by Dharmakirti1. Akalanka replies in forceful words2. The examples of scathing attack of Buddhists are innumerable in Akalanka's works. Pramana samgraha embodies several such caustic remarks such as "jadyahetavaḥ", "Pasulakṣaṇam", "alaukikam", "tamasam"; which were used by Dharmakirti himself.

That he was a celibate, his heart was burning with grief on account of the tragic end of his brother and the exertion of his utmost skill in combating the spring-tide of carping criticism by the Buddhists show his allround capacity to succeed in re-establishing Jainism on the rock-bottom of new interpretation of Agamic teachings.
2. Anantavirya
Acarya Anantavirya was a Logician of amazing capacity though sometimes he shows leniency toward dogmatism. Truly, he was a genius of his time. He had his utmost attempt to probe into the heart of Akalanka's works and reveal the truth. Inspite of the commentary on Siddhiviniscaya by other Vṛddha Anantavirya, it seems he was not satisfied with it as it is sufficiently clear from the opening verses of SVT. He frankly expresses the deficiency of the old commentary on Akalanka's works, as will be clearly seen in this verse :—
Devasyanantaviryo'pi padaṁ vyaktam tu sarvataḥ, na jānīte'kalankasya citrametat param bhuvi.
Though out-wardly it seems that he is expressing his own incompetency, in other way, it goes to justify my conclusion that he is referring this to the old commentator whom he quotes3 in several places.
These phrases like 'ityanantaviryah' go to prove that it is Vṛddha Anantavirya who is referred to, besides this, it proves also the existence of Anantavirya before him. The commentator Anantavirya's expressions e.g. 'anye' and 'apare' suggest that vṛddha Anantavirya's commentary stands in contradiction with the meaning of original slokas of SV and inconsistencies with SVT. He is not satisfied with old Anantavirya; that is
