[ प्रज्ञापनासूत्र [656-1 प्र.] भगवन् ! मनुष्य कहाँ से (पाकर) उत्पन्न होते हैं ? क्या वे नैरयिकों से उत्पन्न होते हैं, यावत् देवों से उत्पन्न होते हैं ? [656-1 उ.] गौतम! (वे) नैरयिकों से भी उत्पन्न होते है और यावत् देवों से भी उत्पन्न होते हैं। [2] जति नेरइएहितो उववज्जति किं रयणप्पभापुढविनेरइएहितो जाव आहेसत्तमापुढविनेरएहिंतो उववज्जति ? गोयमा ! रतणप्पभापुढविनेरइएहितो वि जाव तमापुढविनेरएहितो वि उववज्जंति, नो अहेसत्तमापुढविनेरइएहितो उबवति / [656-2 प्र.] (भगवन् ! ) यदि नैरयिकों से उत्पन्न होते हैं, तो क्या रत्नप्रभापृथ्वी के नैरयिकों से उत्पन्न होते हैं, यावत् अधःसप्तमी (तमस्तमा) पृथ्वी के नैरयिकों से उत्पन्न होते हैं ? [656-2 उ.] गौतम ! (वे) रत्नप्रभापृथ्वी के नैरयिकों से लेकर यावत् तमःप्रभापृथ्वी तक के नैरयिकों से उत्पन्न होते हैं, किन्तु अधःसप्तमीपृथ्वी के नैरयिकों से उत्पन्न नहीं होते। [3] जति तिरिक्खजोणिएहितो उववज्जति किं एगिदियतिरिक्खजोणिएहितो उववज्जति ? एवं जेहितो पंचेंदियतिरिक्खजोणियाणं उववाओ भणितो तेहितो मणुस्साण वि गिरवसेसो माणितम्वो। नवरं अधेसत्तमापुढविनेरइय-तेउ-वाउकाइएहितो ण उववज्जंति / सम्वदेवेहितो वि उवधज्जावेधवा जाव कप्पातीतगवेमाणिय-सव्वट्ठसिद्धदेवेहितो वि उववज्जावेयधा। [656-3 प्र.] (भगवन् ! ) यदि मनुष्य तिर्यञ्चयोनिकों से उत्पन्न होते हैं तो क्या एकेन्द्रिय तिर्यञ्चयोनिकों से उत्पन्न होते हैं, (या यावत् पंचेन्द्रिय तक के तिर्यञ्चयोनिकों से उत्पन्न होते हैं ?) (656-3 उ.] (गौतम !) जिन-जिनसे पंचेन्द्रिय तिर्यञ्चयोनिकों का उपपात (उत्पत्ति) कहा गया है, उन-उनसे मनुष्यों का भी समग्र उपपात उसी प्रकार कहना चाहिए / विशेषता यह है कि (मनुष्य) अधःसप्तमीनरकपृथ्वी के नैरयिकों, तेजस्कायिकों और वायुकायिकों से उत्पन्न नहीं होते / (दूसरी विशेषता यह है कि मनुष्य का) उपपात सर्व देवों से कहना चाहिए, यावत् कल्पातीत वैमानिक देवों-सर्वार्थसिद्धविमान तक के देवों से भी (मनुष्यों की) उत्पत्ति समझनी चाहिए। 657. वाणमंतरदेवा णं भंते ! कमोहितो उववज्जति ? किं नेरइएहितो जाव देवेहितो उववज्जति? गोयमा ! जेहितो असुरकुमारा। [657 प्र.] भगवन् ! वाणव्यन्तर देव कहाँ से (आकर) उत्पन्न होते हैं ? [657 उ.] गौतम ! जिन-जिनसे असुरकुमारों की उत्पत्ति कही है, उन-उनसे वाणव्यन्तर देवों की भी उत्पत्ति कहनी चाहिए /
