[1] जहण्णगुणकालयाणं भंते ! नेरइयाणं केवतिया पज्जवा पण्णत्ता? गोयमा ! अणंता पज्जया पण्णत्ता / से केणठेणं भंते ! एवं वुच्चति जहण्णगुणकालयाणं नेरइयाणं प्रणता पज्जवा पण्णत्ता ? गोयमा ! जहण्णगुणकालए नेरइए जहण्णगुणकालगस्स नेरइयस्स दवट्ठयाए तुल्ले, पदेसट्टयाए तुल्ले, प्रोगाहणट्टयाए चउट्ठाणवडिते, ठितीए चउट्ठाणवडिते, कालवण्णपज्जवेहि तुल्ले, अवसेसेहि वण्णगंध-रस-फासपज्जवेहि तिहिं गाणेहि तिहिं अण्णाणेहि तिहिं दंसणेहि य छट्ठाणवडिते, से तेण?णं गोयमा ! एवं वुच्चति जहण्णगुणकालयाणं नेरहयाणं अणंता पज्जवा पण्णत्ता। [457-1 प्र.] भगवन् ! जघन्यगुण काले नैरयिकों के कितने पर्याय कहे गए हैं ? [457-1 उ.] गौतम ! (उनके) अनन्त पर्याय कहे हैं। [प्र.] भगवन् ! किस कारण से ऐसा कहा जाता है कि जघन्यगुण काले नैरियकों के अनन्त पर्याय हैं ? [उ.] गौतम ! एक जघन्यगुण काला नैरयिक, दूसरे जघन्यगुण काले नैरयिक से द्रव्य की अपेक्षा से तुल्य है, प्रदेशों की अपेक्षा से तुल्य है, (किन्तु) अवगाहना की अपेक्षा से चतुःस्थानपतित है, स्थिति की अपेक्षा से चतु:स्थानपतित है, काले वर्ण के पर्यायों की अपेक्षा से तुल्य है किन्तु अवशिष्ट वर्ण, गन्ध, रस और स्पर्श के पर्यायों की अपेक्षा से, तीन ज्ञान, तीन अज्ञान और तीन दर्शनों की अपेक्षा से षट्स्थानपतित है। इस कारण से हे गौतम ! ऐसा कहा गया कि 'जघन्यगुण काले नारकों के अनन्त पर्याय कहे हैं / ' [2] एवं उक्कोसगुणकालए वि / [457-2] इसी प्रकार उत्कृष्टगुण काले (नारकों के पर्यायों के विषय में भी) समझ लेना चाहिए। [3] प्रजहण्णमणुक्कोसगुणकालए वि एवं चेव / णवरं कालवण्णपज्जवेहिं छट्ठाणवड़िते। [457-3] इसी प्रकार अजघन्य-अनुत्कृष्ट (मध्यम) गुण काले नैरयिक के पर्यायों के विषय में जान लेना चाहिए। विशेष इतना ही है कि काले वर्ण के पर्यायों की अपेक्षा से भी षट्स्थानपतित (हीनाधिक) होता है। 458. एवं प्रवसेसा चत्तारि वण्णा दो गंधा पंच रसा अट्ठ फासा भाणितन्वा / [458] यों काले वर्ण के पर्यायों की तरह शेष चारों वर्ण, दो गंध, पांच रस और आठ स्पर्श की अपेक्षा से भी (समझ लेना चाहिए।) 456.
