तृतीय बहुवक्तव्यतापद] [209 गौतमद्वीप होने से जल की अल्पता है और जल अल्प होने से वनस्पतिकायिक जीव भी कम हैं। पश्चिम की अपेक्षा पूर्व में वनस्पतिकायिक विशेषाधिक हैं, क्योंकि पूर्व में गौतमद्वीप न होने से जल अधिक है / उनसे दक्षिण दिशा में वनस्पतिकायिक विशेषाधिक हैं, क्योंकि वहाँ चन्द्र-सूर्य द्वीप का अभाव होने से जल की प्रचुरता है। (6) द्वीन्द्रिय जीवों का प्रल्पबहत्व- सबसे कम द्वीन्द्रिय पश्चिमदिशा में हैं, क्योंकि वहाँ गौतमद्वीप होने से जल कम है और जल कम होने से शंख आदि द्वीन्द्रिय जीव कम हैं। उनसे पूर्वदिशा में विशेषाधिक हैं, क्योंकि वहाँ गौतमद्वीप का अभाव होने से जल का प्राचुर्य है, इस कारण शंख आदि द्वीन्द्रिय जीवों की अधिकता है। दक्षिण में उनसे भी विशेषाधिक हैं, क्योंकि वहाँ चन्द्रसूर्य द्वीप न होने से जल अधिक है और इस कारण शंखादि भी अधिक हैं। उत्तर में तो मानससरोवर होने से जलाधिक्य है ही, इसलिए वहाँ द्वीन्द्रिय विशेषाधिक हैं / (7) त्रीन्द्रिय जीवों का अल्पबहत्त्व-कुथुआ, चींटी आदि त्रीन्द्रिय शंखादि-कलेवरों के अधित होने से द्वीन्द्रिय जीवों की तरह जलाधिक्य पर निर्भर हैं / इसलिए इनके अल्पबहुत्व का समाधान भी द्वीन्द्रिय की तरह समझ लेना चाहिए। (8) चतुरिन्द्रिय जीवों का अल्पबहुत्व-भ्रमर आदि चतुरिन्द्रिय जीव भी प्रायः कमल आदि के आश्रित होते हैं और कमल (जलज) भी जलजन्य होने से चतुरिन्द्रिय जीवों की अल्पता-अधिकता भी जलाभाव-जलप्राचुर्य पर निर्भर है / अत: इनके अल्पबहुत्व का स्पष्टीकरण भी द्वीन्द्रियों की तरह समझना चाहिए। (8) नारकों का अल्पबहुत्व-पूर्व, पश्चिम और उत्तर में सबसे कम नारक हैं, क्योंकि इन दिशाओं में पुष्पावकीर्ण नरकावास थोड़े हैं, और वे प्रायः संख्यात योजन विस्तृत हैं / इन दिशाओं की अपेक्षा दक्षिणदिशा में असंख्यात-गुणा नारक हैं, क्योंकि दक्षिण में पुष्पावकीर्णनरकावासों की बहुलता है और वे प्रायः असंख्यात योजन विस्तृत हैं / इसके अतिरिक्त कृष्णपाक्षिक जीवों की उत्पत्ति दक्षिणदिशा में बहुत होती है / संसार में दो प्रकार के जीव हैं-कृष्णपाक्षिक और शुक्लपाक्षिक / जिनका संसार (भवभ्रमण) कुछ कम अपार्द्ध पुद्गलपरावर्तन मात्र ही शेष है, वे शुक्लपाक्षिक हैं और जिनका संसार (भवभ्रमण) इससे बहुत अधिक है, वे कृष्णपाक्षिक हैं / शुक्लपाक्षिक (परिमितसंसारी) जीव त है, जबकि कृष्णपाक्षिक जीव अत्यधिक होते हैं / वे क्रूरकर्मा एवं दीर्धतर भवभ्रमणकर्ता जीव स्वभावतः दक्षिण दिशा में उत्पन्न होते हैं। प्रायः ऋरकर्मा भवसिद्धिक जीव भी दक्षिण दिशा में स्थित नारकों, तिर्यंचों, मनुष्यों और असुरों आदि के स्थानों में उत्पन्न होते हैं। (10) विशेषरूप से रत्नप्रभादि के नारकों का अल्पबहत्व-रत्नप्रभा नामक प्रथम नरकभूमि से तमस्तमःप्रभा नामक सप्तम नरकभूमि तक के नारक पूर्व, पश्चिम और उत्तर में सबसे कम हैं, किन्तु दक्षिण दिशा में उनसे असंख्यातगुणे अधिक हैं / इसका कारण पहले बतलाया जा चुका है / (11) सातों नरकश्वियों के जीवों का परस्पर अल्पबहुत्व-सप्तम नरकपृथ्वी के पूर्वपश्चिमोत्तरदिगवर्ती नारकों की अपेक्षा इसी पृथ्वी के दक्षिणदिगवर्ती नारक असंख्यातगुणे अधिक हैं, इसका कारण पहले बताया जा चुका है। सप्तम नरकपृथ्वी के दक्षिणदिग्वर्ती नैरयिकों की अपेक्षा छठी नरकपृथ्वी (तमःप्रभा) के पूर्वोत्तरपश्चिमदिग्वर्ती नैरयिक असंख्यातगुणे हैं, इसका कारण यह है कि संसार में सबसे अधिक पापकर्मकारी संज्ञीपंचेन्द्रिय तिर्यञ्च और मनुष्य सप्तम
