208] [प्रज्ञापनासूत्र (पिपीलिका) आदि त्रीन्द्रिय जीव, कमल आदि में निवास करने वाले भ्रमर आदि चतुरिन्द्रिय जीव तथा जलचर मत्स्य आदि पंचेन्द्रिय जीव भी उत्तर में विशेषाधिक हैं।' विशेषरूप से दिशात्रों को अपेक्षा जीवों का अल्पबहुत्व-(१) पृथ्वीकायिकों का अल्पबहुत्वदक्षिणदिशा में सबसे कम पृथ्वीकायिक इसलिए हैं कि पृथ्वी कायिक जीव वहीं अधिक होते हैं, जहाँ ठोस स्थान होता है, जहाँ छिद्र या पोल होती है, वहाँ बहुत कम होते हैं। दक्षिण दिशा में बहुत-से भवनपतियों के भवन और नरकावास होने के कारण छिद्रों और पोली जगहों की बहुलता है / दक्षिण दिशा की अपेक्षा उत्तरदिशा में पृथ्वीकायिक जीव विशेषाधिक हैं, क्योंकि उत्तरदिशा में भवनपतियों के भवन और नरकावास कम हैं। अत: वहाँ सघन स्थान अधिक है / पूर्वदिशा में चन्द्र-सूर्यद्वीप होने से पृथ्वीकायिक जीव विशेषाधिक हैं। इसको अपेक्षा भी पश्चिम में पृथ्वीकायिकजीव विशेषाधिक हैं क्योंकि वहाँ चन्द्र-सूर्यद्वीप के अतिरिक्त लवणसमुद्रीय गौतमद्वीप भी है / (2) प्रकायिकों का अल्पबहत्व-पश्चिम में वे सब से कम हैं, क्योंकि पश्चिम में गौतमद्वीप होने के कारण जल कम है। पूर्व में गौतमद्वीप नहीं होने से अप्कायिक विशेषाधिक हैं, दक्षिण में चन्द्रसूर्यद्वीप न होने से अप्कायिक विशेषाधिक हैं और उत्तर में मानससरोवर होने से जल की प्रचुरता है, इसलिए वहाँ अप्कायिक विशेषाधिक हैं। (3) तेजस्कायिकों का अल्पबहुत्व-दक्षिण और उत्तर दिशा में अग्निकायिक जीव सबसे कम इसलिए हैं कि मनुष्यक्षेत्र में ही बादर तेजस्कायिक जीवों का अस्तित्व होता है, अन्यत्र नहीं उसमें भी जहाँ मनुष्यों की संख्या अधिक होती है, वहाँ पचन-पाचन की प्रवृत्ति अधिक होने से तेजस्कायिक जीवों की अधिकता होती है / दक्षिण में पांच भरत क्षेत्रों तथा उत्तर में पांच ऐरवत क्षेत्रों में क्षेत्र की अल्पता होने से मनुष्य कम हैं, अतएव वहाँ तेजस्कायिक भी कम हैं। स्वस्थान में (अर्थात् दोनों में) प्रायः समान हैं। इन दोनों दिशाओं की अपेक्षा पूर्व में क्षेत्र संख्यातगुण अधिक होने से तेजस्कायिक पूर्व में संख्यातगुण अधिक हैं, तथा उनसे भी विशेषाधिक तेजस्कायिक पश्चिमदिशा में हैं, क्योंकि वहाँ अधोलौकिक ग्राम होते हैं, जहाँ मनुष्यों की बहुलता होती है। (4) वायुकायिक जीवों का अल्पबहुत्व-सब से अल्प वायुकायिक जीव पूर्व में हैं, क्योंकि जहाँ पोल होती है वहीं वायु का संचार होता है, सघन स्थान में नहीं / पूर्व में सघन (ठोस) स्थान धक होने से वायू अल्प है। पर्व की अपेक्षा पश्चिम में वायुकायिक जीव विशेषाधिक हैं, क्योंकि वहाँ अधोलौकिक ग्राम होते हैं / उत्तर में उससे विशेषाधिक हैं, क्योंकि नारकावासों की वहाँ बहुलता होने से पोल अधिक है / दक्षिण में उत्तर की अपेक्षा पोल अधिक है, क्योंकि दक्षिण में भवनों और नारकावासों की प्रचुरता है, इसलिए दक्षिण में वे विशेषाधिक हैं। (5) बनस्पतिकायिक जीवों का अल्पबहुत्व-वे सबसे कम पश्चिम में हैं, क्योंकि पश्चिम में 1.
