पुष्करोदसमुद्र की वक्तव्यता] गो इणठे समठे, वारुणस्स णं समुद्दस्स उदए एतो इट्ठतरे जाव उदए / से एएणद्वेणं एवं बुच्चइ / तत्य णं वारुणि-वारुणकंता देवा महिड्डिया जाव परिवति, से एएणठेणं जाव णिच्चे। वारुणिवरे णं दोवे कइ चंदा पभासिसु 3 ? सव्वं जोइससंखिज्जगेण णायव्वं / ' 180. (इ) वरुणोद नामक समुद्र, जो गोल और वलयाकार रूप से संस्थित है, वरुणवरद्वीप को चारों ओर से घेरकर स्थित है। वह वरुणोदसमुद्र समचक्रवालसंस्थान से संस्थित है, विषमचक्रवालसंस्थान से संस्थित नहीं है इत्यादि सब कथन पूर्ववत् कहना चाहिए / विष्कंभ और परिधि संख्यात लाख योजन की कहनी चाहिए। पद्मवरवेदिका, वनखण्ड , द्वार, द्वारान्तर, प्रदेशों की स्पर्शना, जीवोत्पत्ति और अर्थ सम्बन्धी प्रश्न पूर्ववत् कहना चाहिए। [भगवन् ! वरुणोदसमुद्र, वरुणोदसमुद्र क्यों कहलाता है ?] गौतम ! बरुणोदसमुद्र का पानी लोकप्रसिद्ध चन्द्रप्रभा नामक सुरा, मणिशलाकासुरा, श्रेष्ठ सीधुसुरा, श्रेष्ठ वारुणीसुरा, धातकीपत्रों का पासव, पुष्पासव, चोयासव, फलासव, मधु, मेरक, जातिपुष्प से वासित प्रसन्नासुरा, खजूर का सार, मृद्धीका (द्राक्षा) का सार, कापिशायनसुरा, भलीभांति पकाया हुआ इक्षु का रस, बहुत सी सामग्रियों से युक्त पौष मास में सैकड़ों वैद्यों द्वारा तैयार की गई, निरुपहत और विशिष्ट कालोपचार से निर्मित, पुनः पुनः धोकर उत्कृष्ट मादक शक्ति से युक्त, पाठ बार पिष्ट (पाटा) प्रदान से निष्पन्न, जम्बफल कालिवर प्रसन्न नामक सूरा, प्रास्वाद वाली गाढ पेशल (मनोज्ञ), अति प्रकृष्ट रसास्वाद वाली होने से शीघ्र ही अोठ को छूकर आगे बढ़ जाने वाली, नेत्रों को कुछ-कुछ लाल करने वाली, इलायची आदि से मिश्रित होने के कारण पीने के बाद थोड़ो कटुक(तीखी) लगने वाली, वर्णयुक्त, सुगन्धयुक्त, सुस्पर्शयुक्त, प्रास्वादनीय, विशेष आस्वादनीय, धातुओं को पुष्ट करने वाली, दोपनीय (जठराग्नि को दीप्त करने वाली), मदनीय (काम पैदा करने वाली) एवं सर्व इन्द्रियों और शरीर में आह्लाद उत्पन्न करने वाली सुरा आदि होती है, क्या वैसा वरुणोदसमुद्र का पानी है ? गौतम ! नहीं / वरुणोदसमुद्र का पानी इनसे भी अधिक इष्टतर, कान्ततर, प्रियतर, मनोज्ञतर और मनस्तुष्टि करने वाला है। इसलिए वह वरुणोदसमुद्र कहा जाता है। वहां वारुणि और वारुणकांत नाम के दो देव महद्धिक यावत् पल्योपम की स्थिति वाले रहते हैं। इसलिए भी वह वरुणोदसमुद्र कहा जाता है / अथवा हे गौतम ! वरुणोदसमुद्र (द्रव्यापेक्षया) नित्य है, वह सदा था, है और रहेगा इसलिए उसका यह नाम भी शाश्वत होने से अनिमित्तिक है। (अटुपिट्टपुट्ठा मुरवईतवरकिमंदिण्णकद्दमा कोपसन्ना अच्छा वरवारुणी अतिरसा जंबूफलपुटुबण्णा सुजाता ईसिउट्ठावलंबिणी अहियमधुरपेज्जा ईसीसिरतणेत्ता कोमलकवोलकरणी जाव प्रासादिया विसादिया अणिहुयसलावकरणहरिसपीइजणणी संतोसतक विबोक्क-हाव-बिब्भम-विलास-वेल्ल-हल-गमणकरणी विरणमधियसत्तजणणी य होइ संगाम देसकालेकथरणसमरपसरकरणी कढियाणविज्जुपयतिहिययाण मउयकरणी य' होइ उववेसिया समाणा गति खलावेति य सयलंमिवि सुभासवप्पालिया समरभग्गवणोसहयारसुरभिरसदीविया सुगंधा प्रासायणिज्जा विस्सायणिज्जा पीणणिज्जा दप्पणिज्जा मयणिज्जा सबिदियगायपल्हायणिज्जा / ) 1.
