18] [ जीवाजीवामिगमसूत्र अन्नेसि य बहूणं जोइसियाणं देवाणं देवीण य प्राहेवच्चं जाव विहरति / से तेणोणं गोयमा ! चंबद्दीवा जाव णिच्चा। कहि णं भंते ! जंबुद्दीवगाणं चंदाणं चंदानो नाम रायहाणीओ पण्णत्ताओ? गोयमा ! चंदद्दीवाणं पुरथिमेणं तिरियं जाव अण्णम्मि जंबुद्दीवे दोवे बारस जोयणसहस्साई भोगाहिता तं चेव पमाणं जाव महड्डिया चंदा देवा / कहि णं भंते ! जंबुद्दीवगाणं सूराणं सूरदीवा णामं दीवा पण्णत्ता ? गोयमा ! जंबुद्दीवे वीवे मंदरस्स पव्वयस्स पच्चस्थिमेणं लवणसमुदं बारसजोयणसहस्साई ओगाहित्ता तं चेव उच्चत्तं आयामविक्खंभेणं परिक्खेवो वेदिया, वनसंडो, भूमिभागा जाव आसयंति, पासायव.सगाणं तं चेव पमाणं मणिपेढिया सीहासणा सपरिवारा अट्ठो उष्पलाइं सूरप्पभाई सूरा एत्थ देवा जाव रायहाणीओ सगाणं दीवाणं पच्चत्थिमेणं अण्णम्मि जंबुद्दीवे दीवे सेसं तं चेव जाव सूरा देवा। 162. हे भगवन् ! जम्बूद्वीपगत दो चन्द्रमानों के दो चन्द्रद्वीप कहां पर हैं ? गौतम ! जम्बूद्वीप के मेरुपर्वत के पूर्व में लवणसमुद्र में बारह हजार योजन आगे जाने पर वहां जम्बूद्वीपगत दो चन्द्रों के दो चन्द्रद्वीप कहे गये हैं। ये द्वीप जम्बूद्वीप की दिशा में साढ़े अठासी (883) योजन और योजन पानी से ऊपर उठे हुए हैं और लवणसमुद्र की दिशा में दो कोस पानी से ऊपर उठे हुए हैं। ये बारह हजार योजन लम्बे-चौड़े हैं; शेष परिधि आदि सब वक्तव्यता गौतमद्वीप की तरह जाननी चाहिए / ये प्रत्येक पद्मवरवेदिका और वनखण्ड से परिवेष्ठित हैं। दोनों का वर्णनक कहना चाहिए / उन द्वीपों में बहुसमरमणीय भूमिभाग कहे गये हैं यावत् वहां बहुत से ज्योतिष्क देव उठते-बैठते हैं / उन बहुसमरमणीय भागों में प्रासादावतंसक हैं, जो साढ़े बासठ योजन ऊँचे हैं, आदि वर्णन गौतमद्वीप की तरह जानना चाहिए। मध्यभाग में दो योजन की लम्बी-चौड़ी, एक योजन मोटी मणिपीठिकाएं हैं, इत्यादि सपरिवार सिंहासन पर्यन्त पूर्ववत् कहना चाहिए। हे भगवन् ! ये चन्द्रद्वीप क्यों कहलाते हैं ? हे गौतम ! उन द्वीपों की बहुत-सी छोटी-छोटी बावड़ियों आदि में बहुत से उत्पलादि कमल हैं, जो चन्द्रमा के समान प्राकृति और प्राभा (वर्ण) वाले हैं और वहां चन्द्र नामक महद्धिक देव, जो पल्योपम की स्थिति वाले हैं, रहते हैं। वे वहां अलग-अलग चार हजार सामानिक देवों यावत् चन्द्रद्वीपों और चन्द्रा राजधानियों और अन्य बहुत से ज्योतिष्क देवों और देवियों का आधिपत्य करते हुए अपने पुण्यकर्मों का विपाकानुभव करते हुए विचरते हैं। इस कारण हे गौतम ! वे चन्द्रद्वीप कहलाते हैं। हे गौतम ! वे चन्द्रद्वीप द्रव्यापेक्षया नित्य हैं अतएव उनके नाम भी शाश्वत हैं। हे भगवन् ! जम्बूद्वीप के चन्द्रों की चन्द्रा नामक राजधानियां कहां हैं ? गौतम ! चन्द्रद्वीपों के पूर्व में तिर्यक् असंख्य द्वीप-समुद्रों को पार करने पर अन्य जम्बूद्वीप में बारह हजार योजन आगे जाने पर वहां ये राजधानियां हैं। उनका प्रमाण आदि पूर्वोक्त गौतमादि राजधानियों की तरह जानना चाहिए यावत् वहां चन्द्र नामक महद्धिक देव हैं।
