तृतीय प्रतिपत्ति : वनखण्ड वर्णन] जो तिणठे समझें। से जहाणामए-किण्णराण वा किंपुरिसाण वा महोरगाण वा गंधव्वाण वा भद्दसालवणगयाण या नंवणवणगयाण वा सोमणसवणगयाण वा पंडगवणगयाण वा हिमवंत-मलय-मंबर-गिरि-गुहसमण्णागयाण वा एगओ सहियाणं सम्मुहागयाणं समुविट्ठाणं सन्निविट्ठाणं पमुदियपक्कीलियाणं गीयरतिगंधवहरिसियमणाणं गेज्ज पज्जं कत्थं पयबद्धं पायबद्धं उक्खित्तयं पबत्तयं मंदायं रोचियाबसाणं सत्तसरसमण्णागयं अट्ठरससुसंपउत्तं छद्दोसविप्पमुक्कं एकारसगुणालंकार-अट्टगुणोयवेयं गुंजंतवंसकुहरोवगूढं रत्तं तित्थाणकरणसुद्धं मधुरं समं सुललियं सकुहरगुजंत-वंस-तंतीसुपउत्तं तालसुसंपउत्तं लयसुसंपउत्तं गहसुसंपउत्तं मणोहरं मउयरिभियपयसंचारं सुरई सुणइं वरचारु रूवं दिव्वं मेयं पगोयाणं, भवे एयारवे सिया? हंता गोयमा! एवंभूए सिया। [126] (9) हे भगवन् ! उन तृणों और मणियों के पूर्व-पश्चिम-दक्षिण-उत्तरदिशा से आगत वायु द्वारा मंद-मंद कम्पित होने से, विशेषरूप से कम्पित होने से, बार-बार कंपित होने से, क्षोभित, चालित और स्पंदित होने से तथा प्रेरित किये जाने पर कैसा शब्द होता है ? जैसे शिबिका (ऊपर से आच्छादित कोष्ठाकार पालखी विशेष), स्यन्दमानिका (बड़ी पालखी-पुरुष प्रमाण जम्पान विशेष) और संग्राम रथ (जिसकी फलकवेदिका पुरुष की कटि-प्रमाण होती है) जो छत्र सहित है, ध्वजा सहित है, दोनों तरफ लटकते हुए बड़े-बड़े घंटों से युक्त है, जो श्रेष्ठ तोरण से युक्त है, नन्दिघोष (बारह प्रकार के वाद्यों के शब्द) से युक्त है, जो छोटी-छोटी घंटियों (घुघरुओं) से युक्त, स्वर्ण की माला-समूहों से सब ओर से व्याप्त है, जो हिमवन् पर्वत के चित्र-विचित्र मनोहर चित्रों से युक्त तिनिश की लकड़ी से बना हुमा, सोने से खचित (मढ़ा हुआ) है, जिसके आरे बहुत ही अच्छी तरह लगे हुए हों तथा जिसकी धुरा मजबूत हो, जिसके पहियों पर लोह की पट्टी चढ़ाई गई हो, आकीर्णगुणों से युक्त श्रेष्ठ घोड़े जिसमें जुते हुए हों, कुशल एवं दक्ष सारथी से युक्त हो, प्रत्येक में सौ-सौ बाण वाले बत्तीस तूणीर जिसमें सब ओर लगे हुए हों,कवच जिसका मुकुट हो, धनुष सहित बाण और भाले आदि विविध शस्त्रों तथा उनके प्रावरणों से जो परिपूर्ण हो तथा योद्धाओं के युद्ध निमित्त जो सजाया गया हो, (ऐसा संग्राम रथ) जब राजांगण में या अन्तःपुर में या मणियों से जड़े हुए भूमितल में बारबार वेग में चलता हो, प्राता-जाता हो, तब जो उदार, मनोज्ञ और कान एवं मन को तृप्त करने वाले चौतरफा शब्द निकलते हैं, क्या उन तृणों और मणियों का ऐसा शब्द होता है ? हे गौतम ! यह अर्थ यथार्थ नहीं है। भगवन् ! जैसे ताल के अभाव में भी बजायी जाने वाली वैतालिका (मंगलपाठिका) वीणा जब (गान्धार स्वर के अन्तर्गत) उत्तरामंदा नामक मूर्छना से युक्त होती है, बजाने वाले व्यक्ति की गोद में भलीभांति विधिपूर्वक रखी हुई होती है, चन्दन के सार से निर्मित कोण (वादनदण्ड) से घर्षित की जाती है, बजाने में कुशल नर-नारी द्वारा संप्रग्रहीत हो (ऐसी वीणा को) प्रातःकाल और सन्ध्याकाल के समय मन्द-मन्द और विशेष रूप से कम्पित करने पर, बजाने पर, क्षोभित, चालित और स्पंदित, घर्षित और उदीरित (प्रेरित) करने पर जैसा उदार, मनोज्ञ, कान और मन को तृप्ति करने वाला शब्द चौतरफा निकलता है, क्या ऐसा उन तृणों और मणियों का शब्द है ?
