तृतीय प्रतिपति : तिर्यक्लोक के प्रसंग में द्वीपसमुद्र-वक्तव्यता] [345 जालियों के समूह से सब दिशाओं में घिरी हुई है (अर्थात् उसमें सब तरफ झरोखे और रोशनदान हैं)। वह जाल-समूह प्राधा योजन ऊंचा, पांच सौ धनुष विस्तार वाला है, सर्वरत्नमय है, स्वच्छ है, मृदु है, चिकना है यावत् सुन्दर और बहुत सुन्दर है। विवेचन-तिर्यक्लोक के द्वीप-समुद्रों में हमारा यह जम्बूद्वीप सर्वप्रथम है। इससे ही द्वीपसमुद्रों की प्रादि है और स्वयंभूरमणसमुद्र में उनकी परिसमाप्ति है। अतएव यह जम्बूद्वीप सब द्वीप-समुद्रों में सबसे प्राभ्यन्तर है / सबसे अन्दर का है। यह द्वीप सबसे छोटा है क्योंकि इसके आगे के जितने भी समुद्र और द्वीप हैं वे सब दूने-दुने विस्तार वाले हैं। जम्बूद्वीप के आगे लवणसमुद्र है, वह दो लाख योजन का है। उससे आगे धातकीखण्ड है, वह चार लाख योजन का है। इस तरह दूना-दूना विस्तार प्रागे-मागे होता जाता है। यह जम्बूद्वीप गोलाकार संस्थान से स्थित है। उस गोलाई को उपमाओं द्वारा स्पष्ट किया गया है। तेल में पकाये गये मालपुए की तरह यह गोल है। घी में पकाये हुए मालपुए में वैसी गोलाई नहीं होती जैसी तेल में पकाये हुए पुए में होती है, इसलिए 'तेल्लापय विशेषण दिया गया है। दसरी उपमा है रथ के पहिये को। रथ का पहिया जैसा गोल होता है वैसा यह जम्बूद्वीप गोल है। तीसरी उपमा है कमल की कणिका की। कमल की कणिका की तरह वह गोल है। चौथी उपमा है परिपूर्ण चन्द्रमण्डल की। पूनम के चाँद की तरह यह जम्बूद्वीप गोल है / यह चूड़ी के आकार का गोल नहीं है। यह जम्बूद्वीप एक लाख योजन की लम्बाई-चौड़ाई वाला है तथा इसकी परिधि (परिक्षेपघेराव) तीन लाख सोलह हजार दो सौ सत्तावीस (316227) योजन, तीन कोस, एक सौ अट्ठावीस धनुष और साढे तेरह अंगुल से कुछ अधिक है। (आयाम-विष्कंभ से परिधि लगभग तीन गुनी होती है)। इस जम्बूद्वीप के चारों ओर एक जगती है जो किसी सुनगर के प्राकार की भांति अवस्थित है। वह जगती ऊँचाई में पाठ योजन है तथा विस्तार में मूल में बारह योजन, मध्य में और ऊपर चार योजन है अर्थात् वह ऊंची उठी हुई गोपुच्छ के आकार की है। वह सर्वात्मना वनरत्नमय है / प्राकाश और स्फटिकमणि के समान वह स्वच्छ है, चिकने स्पर्श वाले पुद्गलों से निर्मित होने से चिकने तन्तुओं से बने वस्त्र की तरह श्लक्ष्ण है, घुटे हुए वस्त्र की तरह मसृण है / सान से घिसी हुई पाषाण-प्रतिमा की तरह घृष्ट है और सुकुमार सान से रगड़ी पाषाण-प्रतिमा की तरह मृष्ट है, स्वाभाविक रज से रहित होने से नीरज है, आगन्तुक मैल से हीन होने से निर्मल है, कालिमादि कलंक से विकल होने से निष्पंक है, निरुपघात दीप्तिवाली होने के कारण निष्कंटक छायावाली है, स्वरूप की अपेक्षा प्रभाववाली है, विशिष्ट शोभा सम्पन्न होने से सश्रीक है और किरणों का जाल बाहर निकलने से समरीचि है, बहिःस्थित वस्तुओं को प्रकाशित करने से सोद्योत है, मन को प्रसन्न करने वाली है, इसे देखते-देखते न मन थकता है और न नेत्र ही थकते हैं, अतः यह दर्शनीय है। देखने वालों को इसका स्वरूप बहुत ही कमनीय लगता है। प्रतिक्षण नया जैसा ही इसका रूप रहता है, अतएव यह प्रतिरूप है। यह जगती एक जालकटक से घिरी हुई है। जैसे भवन की भित्तियों में झरोखे और रोशनदान होते हैं वैसी जालियां जगह-जगह सब ओर बनी हुई हैं। यह जालसमूह दो कोस ऊंचा और पांच सौ धनुष का विस्तार वाला है। यह प्रमाण एक जाली का है। यह जालकटक (जाल-समूह)
