[ आवश्यकसूत्र
रसगौरव तथा शारीरिक सुखप्राप्ति से होने वाले अभिमान रूप सातागौरव के कारण, एवं ज्ञान की अर्थात् जिसके द्वारा जीवादि पदार्थ जाने जाएँ उस ज्ञान की विराधना, दर्शन की विराधना, चारित्र की विराधना, इन तीन विराधनाओं के कारण जो कोई अतिचार किया गया हो तो उससे मैं निवृत्त होता हूँ।
गौरव का अर्थ है गुरुत्व - भारीपन । गौरव दो प्रकार का होता है १. द्रव्यगौरव, २. भावगौरव। पत्थर आदि की गुरुता द्रव्यगौरव है और अभिमान एवं लोभ के कारण होने वाला आत्मा का अशुभ भाव भावगौरव है।
किसी भी प्रकार का दोष न लगाते हुए चारित्र का विशुद्धरूप से पालन करना आराधना है और इसके विपरीत ज्ञानादि आचार का सम्यक् रूप से आराधना न करना, उनमें दोष लगाना विराधना है। कषायसूत्र -
कोहं माणं च मायं च, लोभं च पाव-वड्ढणं। वमे चत्तारि दोसे उ, इच्छंतो हियमप्पणो॥
- दशवै. सू. अ.८ अर्थात् अपनी आत्मा का हित चाहने वाले साधक को पाप बढ़ाने वाले क्रोध, मान, माया तथा लोभ इन चारों कषायों का त्याग कर देना चाहिये।
___आत्मा का कषायों द्वारा जितना अहित होता है, उतना किसी भी अन्य शत्रु द्वारा नहीं होता। कषाय कर्मबन्ध के प्रबल कारण हैं। यही आत्मा को संसार-भ्रमण कराते हैं । कषाय के द्वारा जिसकी आत्मा कलुषित है, उसमें ज्ञान, दर्शन, चारित्र आदि का समावेश नहीं हो सकता, ठीक उसी प्रकार जैसे काले कम्बल पर दूसरा कोई रंग नहीं चढ़ता । आत्मा के उत्थान तथा पतन के मूल कारण कषाय हैं । कषायों के तीव्र उद्रेक से आत्मा अधःपतन के गहरे गर्त में गिरती जाती है, क्योंकि कषायों का मन पर अधिकार हो जाने पर उनके विरोधी सभी सद्गुण एक-एक करके लुप्त हो जाते हैं -
कोहो पीइं पणासेइ, माणो विणयनासणो। माया मित्ताणि नासेई, लोभो सव्वविणासणो॥ उवसमेण हणे कोहं, माणं मद्दवया जिणे। मायमजव - भावेणं, लोभं संतोसओ जिणे॥
- दशवैकालिक, अ.८॥३८,३९ क्रोध प्रीति का नाश करता है, मान विनय का नाश करता है, माया मित्रता का नाश करती है तथा लोभ समस्त सद्गुणों का नाश करता है।
क्षमा से क्रोध को, विनय से अर्थात् मृदुता से मान को, सरलता से माया को और संतोष से लोभ
