[निशीथसूत्र ___ ग्रामादि १६ स्थानों में से इस सूत्र में १२ स्थानों का निर्देश है और “प्रागर" का अगले सूत्र में वर्णन है, इस प्रकार कुल १३ स्थानों का यहां पर कथन है। शेष १३ वें, १४ वें, १५ वें स्थानों का कथन वृहत्कल्पसूत्र उद्देशक ? सूत्र ६ में हुआ है।
निशीथ-भाष्य में इन शब्दों का स्पष्ट निर्देश व व्याख्या नहीं है । चूर्णिकार ने व्याख्या की है। बृहत्कल्पभाष्य की गाथाओं में इन शब्दों की व्याख्या की गई है । वहां १६ शब्दों की व्याख्या है और मूलपाठ में भी १६ शब्द हैं । व्याख्या में (भाष्य में) एक नाम मतांतर से अधिक कहा है । “संकरो" नाम किंचित् ग्रामोऽपि, खेटमपि आश्रमोपि ।
. विभिन्न सूत्रों के मूल पाठों में इन शब्दों के विभिन्न क्रम हैं । कई स्थलों पर १६ नाम और कई स्थलों पर १२ नाम हैं । जिसमें नं. १३-१४-१५ तीन तो निश्चित्त कम होते हैं और आगर, निगम, आश्रम इन तीन में से कोई भी एक कम होता है । इसका कारण अज्ञात है।
बृहत्कल्प उद्देशक ? सूत्र ६ के भाष्य एवं टीका में "राजधानी' का क्रम दसवां है व कुल नाम १६ हैं । उसके बाद के सूत्र ७-८-९ में “गामंसि वा जाव रायहाणिसि वा" पाठ सभी प्रतियों में समान मिलता है।
सर्वत्र एक समान पाठ करना हो तो बृहत्कल्पभाष्य की प्राचीनता को लक्ष्य में रखकर व उसके पाठ के अनुसार तथा "राजधानी" शब्द को अंत में रखते हए १६ शब्द स्वीकार किये जाएं तो कोई विरो वरोध होने की संभावना नहीं रहती है। इन १६ का क्रम इस प्रकार होना चाहिये।
१. ग्राम २. नगर ३. खेड ४. कर्बट ५. मडम्ब ६. पट्टण ७. आगर ८. द्रोणमुख ९. निगम १०. आश्रम ११. सन्निवेश १२. संबाध १३. घोष १४. अंशिका १५. पुटभेदन १६. राजधानी ।
प्रस्तुत सूत्र में "अागर" के सिवाय १५ नाम ही उचित हैं, क्योंकि आगे में सूत्र के अनेक प्रकार के “पागर" का कथन है ।
व्यवहारसूत्र, बृहत्कल्पसूत्र, निशीथसूत्र और आचारांग में १६ शब्द ही होने चाहिये तथा संक्षिप्त पाठ में सर्वत्र "गामंसि वा जाव रायहाणिसि वा" होना चाहिये । कहीं-कहीं पर "गामंसि वा जाव सण्णिवेसंसि वा" ऐसा संक्षिप्त पाठ भी मिलता है, ऐसे संक्षिप्त पाठों में एकरूपता होना आवश्यक है, आगम स्वाध्यायियों को इस ओर ध्यान देना चाहिये। जिससे विभिन्न संख्याओं के विकल्प समाप्त हो सकते हैं।
"णवग-णिवेसंसि"---नये बसे हुए ग्रामादि में कुछ दिनों तक साधु, साध्वियों को प्रवेश नहीं करना चाहिये । क्योंकि शकुन और अपशकून दोनों ही साधुओं की साधना में बाधक हैं। अपशकुन . होने से अन्य साधुओं के लिये अंतराय होने का कारण हो सकता है । अतः ऐसे स्थानों पर ठहरने के लिए नहीं जाना चाहिये तथा गोचरी आदि के लिए भी नहीं जाना चाहिए। नवनिर्मित खान में प्रवेश करने का प्रायश्चित्त

There should be 16 words in the Vyavaharsutra, Brihatkalpa Sutra, Nishith Sutra, and Acharang, and the short text should have "Gamansin va jav Rayhanisin va" everywhere.
