का प्रचार हुआ है । अतः गोपनीयता का प्रचलित हुआ कथन अब केवल कथनमात्र रह गया है।
योग्य साधु-साध्वी के लिए अन्य प्रागम तो क्या छेदसूत्र भी गोपनीय नहीं हैं; अपितु यह कहा जाय तो कोई अतिशयोक्ति नहीं है कि छेदसूत्रों का अध्ययन किए बिना या उनके अर्थ परमार्थ को समझे बिना साधक की साधना अधूरी है, पंगु है, परवश है तथा इनके सूक्ष्मतम अध्ययन के बिना संघव्यवस्था तो परिपूर्ण अंधकारमय ही होती है।
छेदसूत्रों के अर्थ परमार्थ के अध्ययन के बिना श्रमण श्रमणी जघन्य बहुश्रुत भी नहीं बन सकते और जघन्य बहुश्रुत के बिना वे हमेशा परवश ही विचरण कर सकते हैं । वे किसी भी प्रकार की प्रमुखता धारण नहीं कर सकते हैं, स्वतन्त्र विचरण एवं गोचरी भी नहीं कर सकते, सदा दूसरों के निर्णय और आधार पर ही जीवन जीते हैं। संघव्यवस्था का भार वहन करने वालों के लिए तो ये छेदसूत्र और इनका अर्थ परमार्थ समझना नितान्त आवश्यक है।
इन्हीं अनेक दृष्टिकोणों को नजर में रखते हुए छेदसूत्रों का यह हिन्दी विवेचनयुक्त संपादन कार्य किया गया है। आशा है इससे सामान्य साधकों को और विशेष कर सिंघाडाप्रमुख आदि पदवीधरों को बहुमुखी मार्गदर्शन प्राप्त होगा।
परम पूज्य श्रद्धेय श्री कन्हैयालालजी म. सा. "कमल" ने अपने इस महत्त्वशील छेदसत्रों के सम्पादनकार्य में मेरा सहयोग लिया और मुझे आगमसेवा का अनुपम अवसर दिया, उसके लिए मैं अंतःकरण से उनका महान उपकार मानता हूं । उनके इस उपकार को जीवन भर नहीं भुलाया जा सकता है।
अंत में इस संपादन-सहयोग में अनजान में या समझभ्रम से किसी भी प्रकार की भाषा या प्ररूपणा की स्खलना हुई हो तो अन्तःकरण से “मिच्छामि दुक्कडं" देता हूं। विद्वान् पाठकों से भी आशा करता हूं कि वे "छद्मस्थमात्र भूल का पात्र है" यह मान कर उन भूलों के लिये मुझे क्षमा प्रदान करेंगे एवं सही तत्त्व का प्रागमानुसार निर्णय कर उसे ही स्वीकार करेंगे।

For those who bear the burden of the Sangha system, it is absolutely necessary to understand these Cheda Sutras and their ultimate meaning.
Keeping these many perspectives in mind, this Hindi edition of the Cheda Sutras with commentary has been prepared. It is hoped that this will provide multifaceted guidance to ordinary Sadhakas and especially to those holding the position of Singhada and other such dignitaries.
