## First Prabhruta
[Second Prabhruta Prabhruta] The Southern Hemisphere of the Sun
12. How are these hemispheres established? There are two hemispheres established here, as follows: 1. The Southern Hemisphere, 2. The Northern Hemisphere. How is the Southern Hemisphere established?
It is established that Jambudvipa, the island, along with all the islands and oceans, is circular in all directions, with a diameter of one hundred thousand yojanas, a circumference of three hundred thousand yojanas, two hundred and twenty-seven yojanas, three kosas, twenty-eight dhanus, thirteen angulas, and a little more than half an angula.
_When the Sun travels in the Southern Hemisphere, it is established that the day is eighteen muhurtas long, and the night is twelve muhurtas long, at the highest point of the earth._
When the Sun sets, at the beginning of the new year, in the first day and night, it travels in the Northern Hemisphere, moving from the Southern Hemisphere to the Northern Hemisphere.
When the Sun travels in the Northern Hemisphere, the day is eighteen muhurtas long, minus two and a half muhurtas.
The night is twelve muhurtas long, plus two and a half muhurtas.
When the Sun sets, in the second day and night, it travels in the Southern Hemisphere, moving from the Northern Hemisphere to the Southern Hemisphere.
When the Sun travels in the Southern Hemisphere, the day is eighteen muhurtas long, minus four and a half muhurtas.
The night is twelve muhurtas long, plus four and a half muhurtas.
