[Sūryaprajñapti Sūtra]
In the remaining time, the moon becomes bright and dark. There, those who are the moon's followers, in the minimum, for six months, and in the maximum, for forty-two months of the moon, and for forty-two years of the sun. The moon's name is Śaśi.
How then is the moon called Śaśi, the moon Śaśi? It should be said.
Then, the moon, the lord of the stars, the king of the stars, has divine lovers, divine beloveds, and divine furniture, bedding, seats, vessels, and other accoutrements.
The moon god himself, the lord of the stars, the king of the stars, Soma, is the beloved, auspicious, lovely to behold, and handsome.
Thus, it should be said that the moon is Śaśi, the moon Śaśi.
The sun's name is Āditya.
How then is the sun called Āditya, the sun Āditya? It should be said.
Then, the sun rises, sets, breathes in and out, or stands still, up to the ascending and descending cosmic cycles. Thus, it should be said that the sun is Āditya, the sun Āditya.
The description of the sensual pleasures of the moon and the sun.
How many chief queens are ascribed to the moon, the lord of the stars, the king of the stars?
Four chief queens are ascribed: 1. Candraprabha, 2. Doṣiṇābhā, 3. Accimālī, 4. Prabhāṃkarā. As stated before, they do not engage in sexual activity.
The same should be understood for the sun as well.
How do the moon and sun, the lords of the stars, the kings of the stars, experience sensual pleasures?
It is like this: There is a man, capable of the prime of youth, together with a wife capable of the prime of youth, who has recently married, who is seeking wealth and searching for it, who has traveled to sixteen countries, who, having obtained the desired wealth, has returned home, satisfied and content.
