[Surya Prajnapti Sutra]
Indeed, in this human world, humans say this: "Indeed, Rahu swallows the moon or the sun, they say so."
But we say this:
Rahu is a god, mighty, powerful, strong, glorious, very happy, very virtuous, a bearer of good things, a bearer of good strength, a bearer of good ornaments. Rahu has nine names.
Indeed, that god Rahu has nine names, namely: 1. Singhaḍa, 2. Jaḍila, 3. Khara, 4. Khetta, 5. Ḍaḍḍara, 6. Magara, 7. Maccha, 8. Kaccbha, 9. Kaṇṇasappa. Rahu's chariot is of five colors.
Indeed, that god Rahu's chariot is of five colors, namely: 1. Black, 2. Blue, 3. Red, 4. Yellow, 5. White.
Sometimes Rahu's chariot is said to be of the color of a crow. Sometimes Rahu's chariot is said to be of the color of a blue lotus. Sometimes Rahu's chariot is said to be of the color of a ruby. Sometimes Rahu's chariot is said to be of the color of a yellow lotus. Sometimes Rahu's chariot is said to be of the color of a shining star.
When Rahu, the god, comes, goes, moves, or revolves, and covers the moon or the sun from the west, he swallows it from the east.
When Rahu, the god, comes, goes, moves, or revolves, and covers the moon or the sun from the south, he swallows it from the north.
Therefore, he swallows it from the east when he covers it from the west, and he swallows it from the north when he covers it from the south.
When Rahu, the god, comes, goes, moves, or revolves, and covers the moon or the sun from the southwest, he swallows it from the northeast.
When Rahu, the god, comes, goes, moves, or revolves, and covers the moon or the sun from the southeast, he swallows it from the northwest.
