[Surya Prajnapti Sutra]
They are not aerial, not terrestrial, not celestial.
With a vast, magnificent, and well-arranged structure, extending for thousands of yojanas, with thousands of such regions outside, and with a surrounding, vast, and magnificent, celestial palace, with a resounding, musical, and melodious sound of celestial drums, with a roaring, loud, and thunderous sound of celestial lions, they enjoy celestial pleasures and wander about.
With a beautiful, bright, and radiant light, with a mind full of joy, with various celestial pleasures, they shine, illuminate, and radiate light in all directions, like stars in the sky.
P. Then, which Indra do these gods worship? How do they worship him?
U. Four or five Samaṇīya gods reside in that place, until another Indra is born in this world.
P. For how long is it ordained that they reside in the Indra's abode?
U. For one period, or six months, in the higher realm.
The transformation of the moon and the sun, the stars and the constellations, outside the human realm -
P. Are those gods, the moon, the sun, the stars, and the constellations, outside the human realm, aerial, terrestrial, celestial, or all of these? Are they four-bodied, two-bodied, terrestrial, or celestial?
U. Those gods are not aerial, not terrestrial, not celestial, not all of these, not four-bodied, not two-bodied, not terrestrial, not celestial.
With a vast, magnificent, and well-arranged structure, extending for hundreds of thousands of yojanas, with hundreds of thousands of such regions outside, and with a surrounding, vast, and magnificent, celestial palace, with a resounding, musical, and melodious sound of celestial drums, with a roaring, loud, and thunderous sound of celestial lions, they enjoy celestial pleasures and wander about.
With a beautiful, bright, and radiant light, with a mind full of joy, with various celestial pleasures, they shine, illuminate, and radiate light in all directions, like stars in the sky.
P. Then, which Indra do these gods worship? How do they worship him?
