[Surya Prajnapti Sutra]
On days with thirteen Muhurtas, the Sairag is seventeen Muhurtas. As on days with twelve Muhurtas, the Ukkoshiya is eighteen Muhurtas. This is how it should be said.
(a) When the Vasa begins in the first moment on the southern side of the Mandara mountain on Jambudvipa, it also begins in the first moment on the northern side.
When the Vasa begins in the first moment on the northern side, it begins in the first moment on the eastern and western sides of the Mandara mountain on Jambudvipa, in the subsequent time period.
(b) When the Vasa begins in the first moment on the eastern side of the Mandara mountain on Jambudvipa, it also begins in the first moment on the western side.
When the Vasa begins in the first moment on the western side, it begins in the first moment on the north and south sides of the Mandara mountain on Jambudvipa, in the subsequent time period.
As the time is, so are the following: 1. Avaliya, 2. Anapanu, 3. Theve, 4. Lave, 5. Muhurta, 6. Ahoratta, 7. Pakkha, 8. Mase. These eight are the Alapagas. As the Vasa is, so it should be said.
Hemant
(a) When the Hemant begins in the first moment on the southern side of the Mandara mountain on Jambudvipa, it also begins in the first moment on the northern side.
When the Hemant begins in the first moment on the northern side, it begins in the first moment on the eastern and western sides of the Mandara mountain on Jambudvipa, in the subsequent time period.
(b) When the Hemant begins in the first moment on the eastern side of the Mandara mountain on Jambudvipa, it also begins in the first moment on the western side.
When the Hemant begins in the first moment on the western side, it begins in the first moment on the north and south sides of the Mandara mountain on Jambudvipa, in the subsequent time period.
1. In the above Sutra, 'Padhame Samaye' is mentioned eight times. In those places, the following Alapagas should be said, and for each Alapaga, two Sutras should be said similar to the above - 1. Padhama Avaliya, 2. Padamo Anapanu, 3. Padame Theve, 4. Padame Lave, 5. Padhame Muhurte, 6. Padhame Ahoratte, 7. Padhame Pakkha, 8. Padhame Mase.
