22. Some say that the sun's rays increase and decrease by an amount equal to an ocean of dust particles. Others say - 23. Some say that the sun's rays increase and decrease by an amount equal to a thousand oceans of dust particles. Others say - 24. Some say that the sun's rays increase and decrease by an amount equal to a hundred thousand oceans of dust particles. Others say - 25. Some say that the sun's rays increase and decrease by an amount equal to the time of an Utsarpini-Avasarpini. We, however, say - (a) The sun's rays increase and decrease by an amount equal to thirty muhurtas. (b) The sun's rays decrease for six months.
_ The sun's rays increase for six months. (c) The sun's rays decrease when it is leaving the country.
The sun's rays increase when it is entering the country. P. - What is the reason for this? A. - This is what we have learned.
U. - The Jambudvipa, which is the center of all the islands and oceans, is a circle with a diameter of a hundred thousand yojanas, three hundred thousand yojanas, two hundred and twenty-seven yojanas, three kosas, twenty-eight dhanus, thirteen angulas, and a little more than half an angula.
1. When the sun travels through the entire circle, it takes eighteen muhurtas to complete a day, which is equal to twelve muhurtas of night.
2. When the sun is leaving the country, it travels through the inner circle in the first year of the Avyamana Samvatsara. 1. It appears from these statements that the terms 'Palya-upam-Sagaro-upam, Utsarpini-Avasarpini', etc., which are used to denote the time of the Aupamika Kala, were also used in other philosophical Puranas and other texts besides the Jain Agamas.
If these terms are used in any of the Puranas or other texts, then scholars should try to find them and publish them.
