[ अन्तकृद्दशा के समान) श्वेत वर्णवाला, विशाल, रमणीय और दर्शनीय स्थिर और सुन्दर प्रकोष्ठवाला, गोल-पुष्टसुश्लष्ट, विशिष्ट एवं तीक्ष्ण दाढाओं से युक्त, मुँह को फाड़े हुए, सुसंस्कृत उत्तम कमल के समान कोमल, प्रमाणोपेत, अत्यन्त सुशोभित ओष्ठवाला, रक्तकमल के पत्र के समान अत्यन्त कोमल जीभ और तालुवाला, मूस में रहे हुए अग्नि से तपाये हुए तथा आवर्त करते हुए उत्तम स्वर्ण के समान वर्णवाली गोल बिजली के समान आँखों वाला, विशाल और पुष्ट जंघा वाला, संपूर्ण और विपुल स्कन्ध वाला, कोमल, विशद - सूक्ष्म एवं प्रशस्त लक्षणवाली केसर से युक्त, अपनी सुन्दर तथा उन्नत पूँछ को पृथ्वी पर फटकारता हुआ, सौम्य आकार वाला, लीला करता हुआ एवं उबासी लेता हुआ सिंह अपने मुँह में प्रवेश करता स्वप्न में देखा ।]
वह देवकी देवी इस प्रकार के उदार यावत् शोभावाले महास्वप्न को देखकर जागृत हुई । वह हर्षित, संतुष्टहृदय यावत् मेघ की धारा से विकसित कदम्ब पुष्प के समान रोमांचित होती हुई स्वप्न का स्मरण करने लगी । फिर अपनी शय्या से उठी और शीघ्रता, चपलता, संभ्रम एवं विलम्ब से रहित राजहंस के समान उत्तम गति से चलकर वसुदेव राजा के शयनगृह में आयी । आकर इष्ट, कान्त, प्रिय, मनोज्ञ, मनाम, उदार, कल्याण, शिव, धन्य, मंगल, सुन्दर, मित, मधुर और मंजुल (कोमल) वाणी से बोलती हुई वसुदेव राजा को जगाने लगी। राजा जागृत हुआ। राजा की आज्ञा होने पर, रानी विचित्र मणि और रत्नों की रचना से चित्रित भद्रासन पर बैठी। सुखद आसन पर बैठने के बाद स्वस्थ एवं शांत बनी हुई देवकी देवी इष्ट, प्रिय यावत् मधुर वाणी से इस प्रकार बोली- देवानुप्रिये ! आज तथाप्रकार की (उपर्युक्त वर्णनवाली) सुखशय्या में सोते हुए मैंने अपने मुख में प्रवेश करते हुए सिंह के स्वप्न को देखा है । हे देवानुप्रिय ! इस उदार महास्वप्न का क्या फल होगा? देवकी देवी की यह बात सुनकर और हृदय में धारण करके राजा हर्षित और संतुष्ट हृदयवाला हुआ । मेघ की धारा से विकसित कदम्ब के सुगन्धित पुष्प के समान रोमांचित बना हुआ वह राजा, उस स्वप्न का अवग्रहण (सामान्य विचार) तथा ईहा (विशेष विचार) करने लगा। ऐसा करके अपने स्वाभाविक बुद्धि-विज्ञान से उस स्वप्न के फल का निश्चय किया। तत्पश्चात् राजा इष्ट, कान्त, मंगल, मित, मधुर वाणी से बोलता हुआ इस प्रकार कहने लगा
हे देवी! तुमने उदार स्वप्न देखा है। हे देवी! तुमने कल्याणकारक स्वप्न देखा है यावत् हे देवी! तुमने शोभायुक्त स्वप्न देखा है। हे देवी! तुमने आरोग्य, तुष्टि, दीर्घायुष्य, कल्याण और मंगलकारक स्वप्न देखा है। हे देवानुप्रिये ! तुम्हें अर्थलाभ, भोगलाभ, पुत्रलाभ और राज्यलाभ होगा। देवानुपिये ! नव मास और साढे सात दिन बीतने के बाद तुम अपने कुल में ध्वजा समान, दीपक समान, पर्वत समान, शिखर समान, तिलक समान और कुल की कीर्ति करने वाले, कुल को आनन्द देने वाले, कुल का यश बढ़ाने वाले, कुल के लिये आधारभूत, कुल में वृक्ष समान, कुल की वृद्धि करने वाले, सुकुमाल हाथ पांव वाले हीनतारहित पंचेन्द्रिय युक्त संपूर्ण शरीर वाले यावत् चन्द्र के समान सौम्य आकृति वाले, कान्त, प्रियदर्शन, सुरूप एवं देवकुमार के समान कान्ति-वाले पुत्र को तुम जन्म दोगी ।
