[३७ भविष्य-कथन किया था, वह मिथ्या सिद्ध हुआ, क्योंकि भरतक्षेत्र में भी अन्य माताओं ने ऐसे यावत् पुत्रों को जन्म दिया है। ऐसा जानकर इस विषय में पृच्छा करने के लिये तुम यावत् वन्दन को निकलीं और निकलकर शीघ्रता से मेरे पास चली आई हो।
देवकी देवी! क्या यह बात सत्य है? देवकी ने कहा -'हाँ प्रभु, सत्य है।'
विवेचन- भगवान् अरिष्टनेमि के शिष्यों को तीसरी बार अपने घर में आया देखकर देवकी देवी के हृदय में जो संकल्प उत्पन्न हुआ, उसके विषय में निश्चय करने के लिये वह भगवान्.अरिष्टनेमि के चरणों में उपस्थित हुई। भगवान् ने उसके हृदयगत संकल्प का स्पष्ट शब्दों में वर्णन किया। इन सब बातों का प्रस्तुत सूत्र में दिग्दर्शन कराया गया है।
"अज्झथिए समुप्पण्णे" .......... का अर्थ इस प्रकार है -अज्झथिए अर्थात् आध्यात्मिक - आत्मगत । कप्पिए-कल्पित अर्थात हृदय में उठने वाली अनेकविध कल्पनाएं। चिन्तिए-चिन्तित अर्थात् बार-बार किया गया विचार । पत्थिए-प्रार्थित अर्थात् "इस दशा का मूल कारण क्या है?'' इस जिज्ञासा का पुनः पुनः होना । मणोगए - मनोगत अर्थात् जो विचार अभी मन में हैं प्रकट नहीं किये गये हैं। संकप्प - संकल्प अर्थात् सामान्य विचार।
- 'अइमुत्तेण कुमारसमणेणं' का अर्थ है -अतिमुक्त नामक कुमार श्रमण । अतिमुक्त कुमार श्रमण (सुकुमाल शरीर वाले, या कुमारावस्था वाले श्रमण) कंस के छोटे भाई थे। जिस समय कंस की पत्नी जीवयशा देवकी के साथ क्रीडा कर रही थी उस समय अतिमुक्त कुमार जीवयशा के घर में भिक्षा के लिये गये थे। आमोद-प्रमोद में मग्न जीवयशा ने अपने देवर को मुनि के रूप में देखकर उपहास करना प्रारंभ किया। वह बोली देवर ! आओ तुम भी मेरे साथ क्रीडा करो, इस आमोद-प्रमोद में तुम भी भाग लो। इस पर मुनि अतिमुक्त कुमार जीवयशा से कहने लगे – 'जीवयशे ! जिस देवकी के साथ तुम इस समय क्रीडा कर रही हो, इस देवकी के गर्भ से आठ पुत्र उत्पन्न होंगे। ये पुत्र इतने सुन्दर और पुण्यात्मा होंगे कि भारतवर्ष में अन्य किसी स्त्री के ऐसे पुत्र नहीं होंगे। परंतु इस देवकी का सातवां पुत्र तेरे पति को मारकर आधे भारतवर्ष पर राज्य करेगा।' यह बात देवकी देवी ने बचपन में सुनी थी। अतः इसी के समाधान हेतु उसने भगवान् अरिष्टनेमि के पास जाने का निश्चय किया।
__अरिहंत परमात्मा या साधु-साध्वियों के पास जाते समय जो आवश्यक नियम अपनाने होते हैं, उन्हें 'अभिगम' कहा जाता है।
प्रस्तुत सूत्र में सूत्रकार ने देवकी देवी के हृदयगत संकल्प-विकल्प का चित्रण किया है। देवकी देवी अपने हृदय की बात अरिष्टनेमि भगवान् के चरणों में निवेदन करने के लिये चल पड़ी और वहां उपस्थित हो गई। तदनन्तर देवकी देवी के मानस को समाहित करने के लिये अरिष्टनेमि भगवान् ने जो कुछ कहा, अग्रिम सूत्र में इसका वर्णन करते हुए सूत्रकार कहते हैं

Discussion - When Devaki Devi saw the disciples of Lord Arishtanemi coming to her house for the third time, a resolve arose in her heart. To ascertain the subject of this resolve, she went to the feet of Lord Arishtanemi. The Lord described her heart's resolve in clear words. All these things have been shown in the present sutra.
"Ajzhathie Samuppanne" .......... means - Ajzhathie means spiritual - internal. Kappie - imagined, meaning various kinds of imaginations arising in the heart. Chintiye - contemplated, meaning thought repeatedly. Patthie - prayed, meaning "What is the root cause of this situation?" This curiosity happening again and again. Manogae - mental, meaning the thoughts that are in the mind are not yet revealed. Sankalp - resolve, meaning general thought.
- 'Aimumutteṇ Kumārasamaṇeṇam' means - Ati Mukta named Kumar Shraman. Ati Mukta Kumar Shraman (Shraman with a delicate body, or Shraman in the state of youth) was the younger brother of Kansa. When Kansa's wife Jiwayasha was playing with Devaki, Ati Mukta Kumar went to Jiwayasha's house for alms. Jiwayasha, engrossed in amusement and pleasure, began to mock her brother-in-law, seeing him as a muni. She said, "Brother-in-law! Come, you also play with me, participate in this amusement and pleasure." On this, Muni Ati Mukta Kumar said to Jiwayasha - 'Jiwayashe! From the womb of this Devaki, with whom you are playing at this time, eight sons will be born. These sons will be so beautiful and virtuous that no other woman in Bharatvarsha will have such sons. But the seventh son of this Devaki will kill your husband and rule over half of Bharatvarsha.' Devaki Devi had heard this in her childhood. Therefore, to resolve this, she decided to go to Lord Arishtanemi.
The necessary rules to be followed when going to the Arihant Paramatma or Sadhu-Sadhvis are called 'Abhigam'.
