डॉक्टर राधाकृष्णन् ने स्पष्ट शब्दों में लिखा है कि यजुर्वेद में ऋषभदेव, अजितनाथ और अरिष्टनेमि, इन तीन तीर्थंकरों का उल्लेख पाया जाता है।४०
स्कन्दपुराण के प्रभास खण्ड में एक वर्णन है-अपने जन्म के पिछले भाग में वामन ने तप किया। उस तप के प्रभाव से शिव ने वामन को दर्शन दिये। वे शिव, श्यामवर्ण, अचेल तथा पद्मासन से स्थित थे। वामन ने उनका नाम नेमिनाथ रखा। यह नेमिनाथ इस घोर कलिकाल में सब पापों का नाश करने वाले हैं। उनके दर्शन और स्पर्श से करोड़ों यज्ञों का फल प्राप्त होता है। प्रभासपुराण में भी अरिष्टनेमि की स्तुति की गई है। महाभारत३ के अनुशासन पर्व में 'शूरः शौरिर्जनेश्वर' पद आया है। विज्ञों ने 'शूरः शौरिर्जिनेश्वरः' मानकर उसका अर्थ अरिष्टनेमि किया
