के क्या भाव कहे हैं? इसके उत्तर में सुधर्मास्वामी बोले – 'हे जम्बू ! श्रमण भगवान् महावीर ने अष्टम अंग अंतगडदशा के छठे वर्ग के सोलह अध्ययन कहे हैं, जो इस प्रकार हैं
गाथार्थ – (१) मकाई, (२) किंकम, (३) मुद्गरपाणि, (४) काश्यप, (५) क्षेमक, (६) धृतिधर, (७) कैलाश (८) हरिचन्दन, (९) वारत्त, (१०) सुदर्शन, (११) पुण्यभद्र, (१२) सुमनभद्र, (१३) सुप्रतिष्ठित, (१४) मेघकुमार, (१५) अतिमुक्तकुमार और (१६) अलक्क (अलक्ष्य) कुमार ।
जम्बूस्वामी ने सुधर्मास्वामी से कहा - भगवन् ! श्रमण भगवान् महावीर ने छट्ठे वर्ग के १६ अध्ययन कहे हैं तो प्रथम अध्ययन का क्या अर्थ कहा है?
सुधर्मास्वामी ने उत्तर दिया – हे जम्बू ! उस काल उस समय में राजगृह नामक नगर था। वहां गुणशील नामक चैत्य - उद्यान था । उस नगर में श्रेणिक राजा राज्य करते थे। वहां मकाई नामक गाथापति रहता था, जो अत्यन्त समृद्ध यावत् अपरिभूत था ।
उस काल उस समय में धर्म की आदि करने वाले श्रमण भगवान् महावीर गुणशील उद्यान में [साधुवृत्ति के अनुकूल अवग्रह उपलब्ध कर, संयम और तप के द्वारा आत्मा को भावित करते हुए ] पधारे। प्रभु महावीर का आगमन सुनकर परिषद् दर्शनार्थ एवं धर्मोपदेश- श्रवणार्थ आई। मकाई गाथापति भी भगवतीसूत्र में वर्णित गंगदत्त के वर्णनानुसार अपने घर से निकला । धर्मोपदेश सुनकर वह विरक्त हो गया। घर आकर ज्येष्ठ पुत्र को घर का भार सौंपा और स्वयं हजार पुरुषों से उठाई जाने वाली शिविका (पालखी) में बैठकर श्रमणदीक्षा अंगीकार करने हेतु भगवान् की सेवा में आया, यावत् वह अनगार हो गया। ईर्या आदि समितियों से युक्त एवं गुप्तियों से गुप्त ब्रह्मचारी बन गया।
इसके बाद मकाई मुनि ने श्रमण भगवान् महावीर के गुणसंपन्न तथा वेषसम्पन्न स्थविरों के पास सामायिक आदि ग्यारह अंगों का अध्ययन किया और स्कंदकजी के समान गुणरत्नसंवत्सर तपं का आराधन किया। सोलह वर्ष तक दीक्षापर्याय में रहे । अन्त में विपुलगिरि पर्वत पर स्कन्दकजी के समान ही संथारादि करके सिद्ध गये।
किंकम भी मकाई के समान ही दीक्षा लेकर विपुलाचल पर सिद्ध बुद्ध मुक्त हुए।

Sudharma Swami replied - "O Jambu! In that time, there was a city called Rajgriha. There was a Chaitya-Udyan named Gunashil. In that city, King Shrenik ruled. There lived a Gathapati named Makai, who was very rich, even immeasurable.
In that time, Shraman Bhagwan Mahavira, the founder of Dharma, arrived in the Gunashil Udyan [obtaining a suitable Avgraha for Sadhuvritti, inspiring the soul through restraint and penance]. Hearing the arrival of Prabhu Mahavira, the council came for darshan and to listen to Dharma Upadesh. Makai Gathapati also left his home, as described in the Bhagavati Sutra for Gangadatta. Hearing the Dharma Upadesh, he became detached. Coming home, he entrusted the burden of the house to his eldest son and himself sat in a Shivika (palanquin) carried by a thousand men, and came to the service of Bhagwan to accept Shraman Diksha, until he became an Angar. He became a Brahmachari, equipped with Irya and other committees, and hidden by secrets.
After this, Makai Muni studied the eleven Angas, including Samayik, from the virtuous and well-dressed Sthaviras of Shraman Bhagwan Mahavira, and performed the penance of Gunaratnasamvatsar like Skandakji. He remained in Dikshaparaya for sixteen years. Finally, he attained Siddhi on the Vipulagiri mountain, performing Santhar and other things like Skandakji.
Kinkam also attained Siddhi Buddha Mukta on Vipulachal, taking Diksha like Makai.
