पज्जुवासइ।
उस समय श्रमण--घोर तप या साधना रूप श्रम में निरत, भगवान्--आध्यात्मिक ऐश्वर्यसम्पन्न, महावीर --उपद्रवों तथा विघ्नों के बीच साधना-पथ पर वीरतापूर्वक अविचल भाव से गतिमान् [आदिकर--अपने युग में धर्म के आद्य प्रवर्तक, तीर्थंकर--साधु-साध्वी-श्रावक-श्राविका रूप चतुर्विध धर्म-तीर्थ-धर्मसंघ के प्रतिष्ठापक, स्वयं संबुद्ध--स्वयं-बिना किसी अन्य निमित्त के बोध-प्राप्त, पुरूषोत्तम-पुरूषों में उत्तम, पुरूष सिंह-आत्मशौर्य में पुरूषों में सिंह-सदृश, पुरूषवर-पुंडरीक-मनुष्यों में रहते हुए कमल की तरह निर्लेप--आसक्तिशून्य, पुरूषवर-गंधहस्ती--पुरूषों में उत्तम गन्धहस्ती के सदृशजिस प्रकार गन्धहस्ती के पहुंचते ही सामान्य हाथी भाग जाते हैं, उसी प्रकार क्षेत्र में जिनके प्रवेश करते ही दुर्भिक्ष, महामारी आदि अनिष्ट दूर हो जाते थे, अर्थात् अतिशय तथा प्रभावपूर्ण उत्तम व्यक्तित्व के धनी, अभयप्रदायक- सभी प्राणियों के लिए अभयप्रद-सम्पूर्णतः अहिंसक होने के कारण किसी के लिए भय उत्पन्न नहीं करने वाले, चक्षु-प्रदायक-आन्तरिक नेत्र--सद्ज्ञान देने वाले, मार्ग-प्रदायक सम्यक् ज्ञान, दर्शन, चारित्र रूप साधना-पथ के उद्बोधक, शरणप्रद--जिज्ञासु तथा मुमुक्षु जनों के लिए आश्रयभूत, जीवनप्रद-आध्यात्मिक जीवन के संबल, दीपक सदृश समस्त वस्तुओं के प्रकाशक अथवा संसार-सागर में भटकते जनों के लिए द्वीप समान आश्रयस्थान, प्राणियों के लिए आध्यात्मिक उद्बोधन के नाते शरण, गति एवं आधारभूत चार अन्त-सीमा युक्त पृथ्वी के अधिपति के समान धार्मिक जगत् के चक्रवर्ती, प्रतिघात-बाधा या आवरण रहित उत्तम ज्ञान, दर्शन आदि के धारक, व्यावृत्तछद्मा--अज्ञान आदि आवरण रूप छद्म से अतीत, जिन-राग आदि के जेता, ज्ञायक-राग आदि भावात्मक सम्बन्धों के ज्ञाता अथवा ज्ञापक-राग को जीतने का पथ बताने वाले तीर्ण--संसार-सागर को पार कर जानेवाले, तारक--संसार-सागर से पार उतारने वाले, मुक्त--बाहरी और भीतरी ग्रंथियों से छूटे हुए, मोचक-- दूसरों को छुड़ाने वाले, बुद्ध--बोद्धव्य-- जानने योग्य का बोध प्राप्त किये हुए, बोधक--औरों के लिए बोधप्रद, सर्वज्ञ, सर्वदर्शी, शिव--कल्याणमय, अचल--स्थिर निरूपद्रव, अन्तरहित, क्षयरहित बाधारहित, अपुनरावर्तन--जहाँ से फिर जन्म-मरण रूप संसार में आगमन नहीं होता, ऐसी सिद्ध-गति--सिद्धावस्था नामक स्थिति पाने के लिए संप्रवृत्त, अर्हत्--पूजनीय, रागादिविजेता, जिन, केवली--केवलज्ञान युक्त, सात हाथ की दैहिक ऊंचाई से युक्त, समचौरस-संस्थान-संस्थित, वज्र-ऋषभ-नाराच-संहनन--अस्थिबन्ध युक्त, देह के अन्तर्वर्ती पवन के उचित वेग-गतिशीलता से युक्त, कंक पक्षी की तरह निर्दोष गुदाशय युक्त, कबूतर की तरह पाचनशक्ति युक्त उनका अपान-स्थान उसी तरह निर्लेप था जैसे पक्षी का, पीठ और पेट के बीच के दोनों पार्श्व तथा जंधाएं सुपरिणत-सुन्दर-सुगठित थीं, उनका मुख पद्म कमल अथवा पद्म नामक सुगन्धिक द्रव्य तथा उत्पल--नील कमल या उत्पलकुष्ट नामक सुगन्धित द्रव्य जैसी सुरभिमय निःश्वास से युक्त था, छवि-उत्तम छविमान्-उत्तम त्वचा युक्त, नीरोग, उत्तम, प्रशस्त, अत्यन्त श्वेत मांस युक्त, जल्ल--कठिनाई से छूटने वाला मैल, मल्ल--आसानी से छुटनेवाला मैल, कलंक-- दाग, धब्बे, स्वेद-- पसीना तथा रज-दोष-- मिट्टी लगने से विकृति-वर्जित शरीर युक्त,अतएव निरूपलेप- अत्यन्त स्वच्छ, दीप्ति से उद्योतित प्रत्येक अंगयुक्त, अत्यधिक सघन, सुबद्ध स्नायुबंध सहित लक्षणमय पर्वत के शिखर के समान उन्नत उनका मस्तक था, बारीक रेशो से भरे सेमल के फल के
