[१५ या महाशिला, जिसके गिराए जाने पर सैकड़ों व्यक्ति दब-कुचलकर मर जाएं, और द्वार के छिद्र रहित कपाटयुगल के कारण जहां प्रवेश कर पाना दुष्कर था, धनुष जैसे टेढे परकोटे से वह घिरा हुआ था, उस परकोटे पर गोल आकार के बने हुए कपिशीर्षकों से वह सुशोभित था, उसके राजमार्ग, अट्टालकपरकोटे के ऊपर निर्मित आश्रय-स्थानों--गुमटियों, चरिक--परकोटे के मध्य बने हुए आठ हाथ चौड़े मार्गो, परकोटे में बने हुए छोटे द्वारों--बारियों, गोपुरों--नगर-द्वारों, तोरण--द्वारों से सुशोभित और सुविभक्त थे, उसकी अर्गला और इन्द्रकील--गोपुर के किवाड़ों के आगे जड़े हुए नुकीले भाले जैसी कीलें, सुयोग्य शिल्पाचार्यों निपुण शिल्पियों द्वारा निर्मित थी, विपणि--हाट-मार्ग, वणिक्-क्षेत्र-- व्यापार-क्षेत्र बाजार के कारण तथा बहुत से शिल्पियों, कारीगरों के आवासित होने के कारण वह सुखसुविधापूर्ण था, तिकोने स्थानों, तिराहों, चौराहों चत्वरों-जहां चार से अधिक रास्ते मिलते हों, ऐसे स्थानों, बर्तन आदि की दूकानों तथा अनेक प्रकार की वस्तुओं से परिमंडित--सुशोभित और रमणीय था। राजा की सवारी निकलते रहने के कारण उसके राजमार्गों पर भीड़ लगी रहती थी, वहां अनेक उत्तम घोड़े, मदोन्मत्त हाथी, रथ--समूह, शिविका-पर्देदार पालखियां, स्यन्दमानिका--पुरूष-प्रमाण पालखियां, यान--गाड़ियां तथा युग्य--पुरातन कालीन गोल्ल देश में सुप्रसिद्ध दो हाथ लम्बे--चौड़े डोली जैसे यान--इनका जमघट लगा रहता था। वहां खिले हुए कमलों से शोभित जल वाले-- जलाशय थे, सफेदी किए हुए उत्तम भवनों से वह सुशोभित, अत्यधिक सुन्दरता के कारण निर्निमेष नेत्रों से प्रेक्षणीय,] चित्त को प्रसन्न करने वाला, दर्शनीय, अभिरूप-मनोज्ञ--मन को अपने में रमा लेने वाला तथा प्रतिरूप-मन में बस जाने वाला था।
