राष्ट्रभाषा हिन्दी में अनुवाद के साथ बत्तीसों आगमों का सबसे पहला प्रकाशन अब से लगभग छह दशक पूर्व दक्षिण हैदराबाद में हुआ। इनका संपादन तथा अनुवाद लब्धप्रतिष्ठ आगम-विद्वान् समादरणीय मुनि श्री अमोलकऋषिजी महाराज ने किया। तब के समय और स्थिति को देखते हुए निश्चय ही यह एक महत्त्वपूर्ण कार्य था। तबसे पूर्व हिन्दी भाषी जनों को आगम पढ़ने का अवसर ही प्राप्त नहीं था। इन आगमों का सभी जैन सम्प्रदायों मुनियों और श्रावकों ने उपयोग किया। श्रुत-सेवा का वास्तव में यह एक श्लाघनीय कार्य था। आज वे आगम अप्राप्य (Out of Print) हैं।
बत्तीसों आगमों के संपादन, अनुवाद एवं प्रकाशन का दूसरा प्रयास लगभग, उसके दो दशक बाद जैन शास्त्राचार्य पज्य श्री घासीलाल जी महाराज द्वारा करांची से चाल हआ। वर्षों के परिश्रम से वह अहमदाबाद में सम्पन्न हुआ। उन्होंने स्वरचित संस्कृत टीका तथा हिन्दी तथा हिन्दी एवं गुजराती अनुवाद के साथ सम्पादन किया। वे भी आज सम्पूर्ण रूप में प्राप्त नहीं हैं। फुटकर रूप में आगम-प्रकाशन कार्य सामान्यतः गतिशील रहा। वर्धमान स्थानकवासी जैन श्रमण संघ के प्रथम आचार्य आगम-बाङ् मय के महान् अध्येता, प्रबुद्ध मनीषी पूज्य आत्माराम जी महाराज द्वारा कतिपय आगमों का संस्कृत-छाया, हिन्दी अनुवाद तथा व्याख्या के साथ सम्पादन किया गया, जो वास्तव में बड़ा उपयोगी सिद्ध हुआ। आज वे सब आगम भी प्राप्त नहीं हैं । जैन श्वेताम्बर तेरापंथ की ओर से भी आगमप्रकाशन का कार्य चल रहा है। विस्तृत विवेचना, टिप्पणी आदि के साथ कतिपय आगम प्रकाश में आयें है। सभी प्रयास जो हुए हैं, हो रहे हैं, अभिनन्दनीय हैं। आज की आवश्यकता
हिन्दी जागत् में वर्षों से आज की प्रांजल भाषा तथा अधुनातन शैली में हिन्दी अनुवाद के साथ आगम प्रकाशन की आवश्यकता अनुभव की जा रही थी। देश का हिन्दी-भाषी क्षेत्र बहुत विशाल है। हिन्दी - भाषा में कोई साहित्य देने का अर्थ है कोटि-कोटि मानवों तक उसे पहुंचाना।
जैन आगम केवल विद्वद्भोग्य नहीं हैं, जन-जन के लिए उनकी महनीय उपयोगिता है। आज के समस्यासंकुल युग में, जब मानव को शान्ति का मार्ग चाहिए, वे और भी उपयोगी हैं।
