१२ करोड़ आनन्द आदि श्रमणोपासकों ने निम्नांकित २१ बातों में मर्यादा की थी--
१. शरीर पोंछने का तौलिया, २. दतौन, ३. केश एवं देह-शुद्धि के लिए फल-प्रयोग, ४. मालिश के तैल, ५. उबटन, ६. स्नान के लिए पानी, ७. पहनने के वस्त्र, ८. विलेपन, ९. पुष्प, १०. आभूषण, ११. धूप, १२. पेय, १३. भक्ष्य-मिठाई, १४. ओदन-चावल, १५. सूप-दालें, १६. घृत, १७. शाक, १८. माधुरक-मधु पेय, १९. व्यंजन-दहीबड़े, पकोड़े आदि, २०. पीने का पानी, २१. मुखवास-पान तथा उसमें डाले जाने वाले सुगन्धित मसाले।
इन दस श्रमणोपासकों में आनन्द तथा महाशतक को अवधि-ज्ञान प्राप्त हुआ, जिसकी मर्यादा या विस्तार निम्नांकित रूप में थाआनन्द--पूर्व, पश्चिम तथा दक्षिण दिशा में लवण समुद्र में पांच-पांच सौ योजन तक, उत्तर दिशा में
चुल्लहिमवान् वर्षधर पर्वत तक, ऊर्ध्व-दिशा में सौधर्म देवलोक तक, अधोदिशा में प्रथम नारक
भूमि रत्नप्रभा में लोलुपाच्युत नामक स्थान तक। महाशतक--पूर्व, पश्चिम तथा दक्षिण दिशा में लवण-समुद्र में एक-एक हजार योजन तक, उत्तर दिशा

1. Towel for wiping the body, 2. Datun, 3. Fruit for cleansing hair and body, 4. Massage oil, 5. Ubtan, 6. Water for bathing, 7. Clothes to wear, 8. Perfume, 9. Flowers, 10. Ornaments, 11. Incense, 12. Drink, 13. Food-sweets, 14. Rice, 15. Soup-lentils, 16. Ghee, 17. Vegetables, 18. Madhurak-honey drink, 19. Dishes-dahi-bade, pakoras etc., 20. Drinking water, 21. Mouth freshener-paan and fragrant spices to be put in it.
Among these ten Shramanopasakas, Ananda and Mahasataka attained Avadhi-knowledge, whose extent or range was as follows:
Ananda in the east, west and south directions in the salt sea up to five hundred yojanas, in the north direction
Chullhimalayan mountain, in the upward direction up to Saudharma Devaloka, in the downward direction in the first Naraka
