[उपासकदशांगसूत्र २७१. तए णं से नंदिणीपिया समणोवासए जाव' विहरइ।

२७२. तए णं तस्स नंदिणीपियस्स समणोवासयस्स बहूहिं सोलव्वय-गुण जाव' भावेमाणस्स चोद्दस संवच्छराइं वइक्कंताई। तहेव जेठं पुत्तं ठवेइ। धम्म-पण्णतिं। वीसं वासाइं परियागं। नाणत्तं अरूणगवे विमाणे उववाओ महाविदेहे वासे सिज्झिहिए।
निक्खेवओ ॥ सत्तमस्स अंगस्स उवासगदसाणं नवमं अज्झयणं समत्तं ॥ तदन्तर श्रमणोपासक नन्दिनीपिता को अनेक प्रकार से अणुव्रत, गुणव्रत आदि की आराधना द्वारा आत्मभावित होते हुए चौदह वर्ष व्यतीत हो गए। उसने आनन्द आदि की तरह अपने ज्येष्ठ पुत्र को पारिवारिक एवं सामाजिक उत्तरदायित्व सौंपा। स्वयं धर्मोपासना में निरत रहने लगा।
नन्दिनीपिता ने बीस वर्ष तक श्रावक-धर्म का पालन किया। आनन्द आदि से इतना अन्तर है-देह-त्याग कर वह अरूणगव विमान में उत्पन्न हुआ। महाविदेह क्षेत्र में वह सिद्ध-मुक्त होगा।
