[८९ अनुसरण किया, एक मास की संलेखना और साठ भोजन--एक मास का अनशन संपन्न कर, आलोचना, प्रतिक्रमण कर मरण-काल आने पर समाधिपूर्वक देह-त्याग किया। देह त्याग कर वह सौधर्म देवलोक में सौधर्मावतंसक महाविमान के ईशान-कोण में स्थित अरूण-विमान में देव रूप में उत्पन्न हुआ। वहां अनेक देवों की आयु-स्थिति चार पल्योपम की होती है। श्रमणो-पासक आनन्द की आयु-स्थिति भी चार पल्योपम की बतलाई गई है।
९०.आणंदे णं भंते! देवे ताओ देवलोगाओ आउक्खएणं, भवक्खएणं, ठिइक्खएणं अणंतरं चयं चइत्ता, कहिं गच्छिहिइ? कहिं उववजिहिइ?
गोयमा! महाविदेहे वासे सिज्झहिइ।
निक्खेवो' ॥सत्तमस्स अंगस्स उवासगदसाणं पढमं अज्झयणं समत्तं ॥ गौतम ने भगवान् महावीर से पूछा--भन्ते! आनन्द उस देवलोक से आयु, भव एवं स्थिति के क्षय होने पर देव-शरीर का त्याग कर कहां जायगा? कहां उत्पन्न होगा?
भगवान् ने कहा--गौतम! आनन्द महाविदेह क्षेत्र में सिद्ध-गति या मुक्ति प्राप्त करेगा।
॥निक्षेप ॥ ॥ सातवें अंग उपासकदशा का प्रथम अध्ययन समाप्त ।।
१. एवं खलु जम्बू! समणेणं जाव उवासगदसाणं पढमस्स अज्झयणस्स अयमढे पण्णत्तेत्ति--बेमि। २. निगमन--आर्य सुधर्मा बोले--जम्बू! श्रमण भगवान् महावीर ने उपासकदशा के प्रथम अध्ययन का यहीं अर्थ--
भाव कहा था, जो मैंने तुम्हें बतलाया है।
