इस जम्बूद्वीप में इस भारतवर्ष के इस अवसर्पिणीकाल में नौ दशारमंडल (बलदेव और वासुदेव समुदाय) हुए हैं। सूत्रकार उनका वर्णन करते हैं -
वे सभी बलदेव और वासुदेव उत्तम कुल में उत्पन्न हुए श्रेष्ठ पुरुष थे, तीर्थंकरादि शलाका-पुरुषों के मध्यवर्ती होने से मध्यम पुरुष थे, अथवा तीर्थंकरों के बल की अपेक्षा कम ओर सामान्य जनों के बल की अपेक्षा अधिक बलशाली होने से वे मध्यम पुरुष थे। अपने समय के पुरुषों के शौर्वादि गुणों की प्रधानता की अपेक्षा वे प्रधान पुरुष थे। मानसिक बल से सम्पन्न होने के कारण ओजस्वी थे। देदीप्यमान शरीरों के धारक होने से तेजस्वी थे। शारीरिक बल से संयुक्त होने के कारण वर्चस्वी थे, पराक्रम के द्वारा प्रसिद्धि को प्राप्त करने से यशस्वी थे। शरीर की छाया (प्रभा) से युक्त होने के कारण वे छायावन्त थे। शरीर की कान्ति से युक्त होने से कान्त थे, चन्द्र के समान सौम्य मुद्रा के धारक थे, सर्वजनों के वल्लभ होने से वे सुभग या सौभाग्यशाली थे। नेत्रों को अतिप्रिय होने से वे प्रियदर्शन थे। समचतुरस्र संस्थान के धारक होने से वे सुरूप थे। शुभ स्वभाव होने से वे शुभशील थे। सुखपूर्वक सरलता से प्रत्येक जन उनसे मिल सकता था, अत: वे सुखाभिगम्य थे। सर्वजनों के नयनों के प्यारे थे। कभी नहीं थकनेवाले अविच्छिन्न प्रवाहयुक्त बलशाली होने से वे ओघबली थे, अपने समय के सभी पुरुषों के बल का अतिक्रमण करने से अतिबली थे और महान् प्रशस्त या श्रेष्ठ बलशाली होने से वे महाबली थे। निरुपक्रम आयुष्य के धारक होने से अनिहत अर्थात् दूसरे के द्वारा होने वाले घात या मरण से रहित थे, अथवा मल्ल-युद्ध में कोई उनको पराजित नहीं कर सकता था, इसी कारण वे अपराजित थे। बड़े-बड़े युद्धों में शत्रुओं का मर्दन करने से वे शत्रुमर्दन थे, सहस्रों शत्रुओं के मान का मथन करने वाले थे। आज्ञा या सेवा स्वीकार करने वालों पर द्रोह छोड़कर कृपा करने वाले थे। वे मात्सर्य-रहित थे, क्योंकि दूसरों के लेश मात्र भी गुणों के ग्राहक थे। मन वचन काय की स्थिर प्रवृत्ति के कारण वे अचपल (चपलता-रहित) थे। निष्कारण प्रचण्ड

They were shadowy because they possessed a shadow (aura) around their bodies. They were radiant because they possessed a radiant glow. They were gentle because they possessed a moon-like countenance. They were fortunate because they were beloved by all. They were pleasing to the eyes because they were very pleasing to look at. They were handsome because they possessed a square body. They were virtuous because they possessed a good character. They were easily accessible because everyone could easily meet them. They were beloved by all because they were pleasing to the eyes of all. They were powerful because they were strong, tireless, and possessed an uninterrupted flow of strength. They were very powerful because they surpassed the strength of all the men of their time. They were supremely powerful because they possessed great and excellent strength. They were unharmed because they possessed an uninterrupted lifespan, or because no one could defeat them in a wrestling match. They were unconquerable because no one could defeat them in battle. They were crushers of enemies because they crushed their enemies in great battles. They were destroyers of thousands of enemies because they destroyed the pride of thousands of enemies. They were benevolent to those who obeyed or served them, but they were cruel to those who betrayed them. They were free from envy because they were grateful for even the smallest of qualities in others. They were steadfast because they possessed a stable mind, speech, and body. They were unwavering because they were free from fickleness. They were fierce without any reason.
