रयणप्पभाए पुढवीए बहुसमरमणिज्जाओ भूमिभागाओ सत्तनउयाइं जोयणसयाई उड्ढं उप्पइत्ता एत्थ णं दसुत्तरजोयणसयबाहल्ले तिरियं जोइसविसए जोइसियाणं देवाणं असंखेज्जा जोइसियविमाणावासा पण्णत्ता । ते णं जोइसियविमाणावासा अब्भुग्गयभूसियपहसिया विविहमणिरयणभत्तिचित्ता वाउयविजय - वेजयंती- पडाग - छत्ताइछत्तकलिया तुंगा गगण तलमणुलिहंतसिहरा जालंतर - रयणपंजरुम्मिलियव्व मणिकणगथ्रुभियागा वियसिय सयपत्तपुण्डरीय-तिलय - रयणद्धचंदचित्ता अंतो वाहिं च सण्हा तवणिज्ज-वालुआ पत्थडा सुहफासा सस्सिरीयरूवा पसाइया दरिसणिज्जा ।
भगवन् ! ज्योतिष्क देवों के विमानावास कितने कहे गये हैं ?
गौतम! इस रत्नप्रभा पृथिवी के बहुसम रमणीय भूमिभाग से सात सौ नब्बै योजन ऊपर जाकर एक सौ दश योजन बाहल्य वाले तिरछे ज्योतिष्क-विषयक आकाशभाग में ज्योतिष्क देवों के असंख्यात विमानावास कहे गये हैं । वे अपने में से निकलती हुई और सर्व दिशाओं में फैलती हुई प्रभा से उज्ज्वल हैं, अनेक प्रकार के मणि और रत्नों की चित्रकारी से युक्त हैं, वायु से उड़ती हुई विजय - वैजयन्ती पतकाओं से और छत्रातिछत्रों से युक्त हैं, गगनतल को स्पर्श करने वाले ऊंचे शिखर वाले हैं, उनकी जालियों के भीतर रत्न लगे हुए हैं। जैसे पंजर (प्रच्छादन) से तत्काल निकाली वस्तु सश्रीक- चमचमाती है बैसे ही वे सश्रीक । मणि और सुवर्ण की स्तूपिकाओं से युक्त हैं, विकसित शतपत्रों एवं पुण्डरीकों (श्वेत कमलों) से, तिलकों से, रत्नों के अर्धचन्द्राकार चित्रों से व्याप्त हैं, भीतर और बाहर अत्यन्त चिकने हैं, तपाये हुए सुवर्ण के समान वालुकामयी प्रस्तटों या प्रस्तारों वाले हैं । सुखद स्पर्श वाले हैं, शोभायुक्त हैं, मन को प्रसन्न करने वाले और दर्शनीय हैं।
५९० - केवइया णं भंते! वेमाणियावासा पण्णत्ता ? गोयमा ! इमीसे णं रयणप्पभाए पुढवीए बहुसमरमणिज्जाओ भूमिभागाओ उड्ढं चंदिम-सूरिय-गहगण - नक्खत्त-तारारूवाणं वीइवइत्ता बहूणि जोयणाणि बहूणि जोयणसयाणि बहूणि जोयणसहस्साणि [ बहूणि जोयणसंयसहस्साणि ] बहुइओ जोयणकोडीओ बहुइओ जोयणकोडाकोडीअ असंखेज्जाओ जोयणकोडाकोडीओ उड्ढं दूरं वीइवइत्ता एत्थ णं वेमाणियाणं देवाणं सोहम्मीसाणंसणंकुमार- माहिंद-बंभ-लंतग-सुक्क सहस्सार- आणय- पाणय- आरण-अच्चुएसु गेवेज्जमणुत्तरेसु य चउरासीइं विमाणावाससयसहस्सा सत्ताणउई च सहस्सा तेवीसं च विमाणा भवंतीतिमक्खाया।
भगवन्! वैमानिक देवों के कितने आवास कहे गये हैं ?
गौतम ! इसी रत्नप्रभा पृथिवी के बहुसम रमणीय भूमिभाग से ऊपर, चन्द्र, सूर्य, ग्रहगण, नक्षत्र और तारकाओं को उल्लंघन कर, अनेक योजन, अनेक शत योजन, अनेक सहस्र योजन [ अनेक शतसहस्र योजन] अनेक कोटि योजन, अनेक कोटाकोटी योजन और असंख्यात कोटा- कोटी योजन ऊपर बहुत दूर तक आकाश का उल्लंघन कर सौधर्म, ईशान, सनत्कुमार, माहेन्द्र, ब्रह्म, लान्तक, शुक्र, सहस्रार, आनत, प्राणत, आरण, अच्युत कल्पों में, गैवेयकों में और अनुत्तरों में वैमानिक देवों के चौरासी लख सत्तानवै हजार और तेईस विमान हैं, ऐसा कहा गया है।
