इस तरह समय-समय पर समवायांग सूत्र के संस्करण प्रकाशित होते रहते हैं। प्रस्तुत संस्करण के प्रधान सम्पादक हैं - श्रमणसंघ के तेजस्वी युवाचार्य श्रीमधुकर मुनि जी म.। आपके कुशल नेतृत्व में आगम-प्रकाशन-समिति आगमों के शानदार संस्करण प्रकाशित करने में संलग्न है। स्वल्पावधि में अनेक आगम प्रकाशित हो चुके हैं। प्रत्येक आगम के सम्पादक और विवेचक पृथक्-पृथक् व्यक्ति होने के कारण ग्रन्थमाला में जो एकरूपता आनी चाहिये थी वह नहीं आ सकी है। वह आ भी नहीं सकती है, क्योंकि प्रत्येक व्यक्ति की स्वतन्त्र लेखन व सम्पादन शैली होती है। तथापि युवाचार्यश्री ने यह महान् भागीरथ कार्य उठाया है। श्रमणसंघ के सम्मेलनों में तथा स्थानकवासी कान्फ्रेंस दीर्घकाल से यह प्रयत्न कर रही थी कि आगम-बत्तीसी का अभिनव प्रकाशन हो। मुझे परम आह्लाद है कि मेरे परम श्रद्धेय सद्गुरुवर्य राजस्थानकेशरी अध्यात्मयोगी उपाध्यायप्रवर श्री पुष्करमुनि जी म. के सहपाठी व स्नेही सहयोगी युवाचार्यप्रवर ने दत्तचित्त होकर इस कार्य को अतिशीघ्र रूप से सम्पन्न करने का दृढ़ संकल्प किया है। यह गौरव की बात है। हम सभी का कर्तव्य है कि उन्हें पूर्ण सहयोग देकर इस कार्य को अधिकाधिक मौलिक रूप में प्रतिष्ठित करें।
समवायांग के सम्पादक व विवेचक पण्डितप्रवर श्री हीरालालजी शास्त्री हैं। पण्डित हीरालालजी शास्त्री दिगम्बर जैन परम्परा के जाने-माने प्रतिष्ठित साहित्यकार थे। उन्होंने अनेक दिगम्बर-ग्रन्थों का सम्पादन कर अपनी प्रतिभा का परिचय दिया था। जीवन की सान्ध्यवेला में उन्होंने श्वेताम्बर परम्परा के महनीय आगम स्थानांग और समवायांग का सम्पादन किया। स्थानांग इसी आगममाला से पूर्व प्रकाशित हो चुका है। अब उनके द्वारा सम्पादित समवायांग सूत्र प्रकाशित हो रहा है। वृद्धावस्था के कारण जितना चाहिये, उतना श्रम वे नहीं कर सके हैं। तथा कहीं-कहीं परम्पराभेद होने के कारण विषय को पूर्ण स्पष्ट भी नहीं कर सके हैं। मैंने अपनी प्रस्तावना में उन सभी विषयों की पूर्ति करने का प्रयास किया है। तथापि मूलस्पर्शी भावानुवाद और जो यथास्थान संक्षिप्त विवेचन दिया है, वह उन के पाण्डित्य का स्पष्ट परिचायक है।
सम्पादनकलामर्मज्ञ कलमकलाधर पण्डित शोभाचन्द्रजी भारिल्ल, जो श्वेताम्बर आगमों के तलस्पर्शी विद्वान हैं, उनकी सम्पादनकला का यत्र-तत्र सहज ही दिग्दर्शन होता है। वस्तुतः भारिल्ल जी आगमों को सर्वाधिक सुन्दर व प्रामाणिक बनाने के लिये जो श्रमसाध्य कार्य कर रहे हैं। वह उनकी आगम-निष्ठा का द्योतक है।
समवायांग की प्रस्तावना का आलेखन करते समय अनेक व्यवधान उपस्थित हुये। उन में सबसे बड़ा व्यवधान प्रकृष्ट प्रतिभा की धनी आगम व दर्शन की गम्भीर ज्ञाता पूज्य मातेश्वरी साध्वीरत्न महासती श्री प्रभावती जी का संथारे के साथ अकस्मात् दि. २७ जनवरी १९८२ को स्वर्गवास हो जाना रहा। माँ की ममता निराली होती है। माता-पिता के उपकारों को भुलाया नहीं जा सकता। जिस मातेश्वरी ने मुझे जन्म ही नहीं दिया, अपितु साधना के महामार्ग पर बढ़ने के लिये उत्प्रेरित किया, उसके महान् उपकार को कैसे भुलाया जा सकता है, तथापि कर्तव्य की जीती जागती प्रतिमा का यही हार्दिक आशीर्वाद कि 'वत्स! खूब श्रुतसेवा करो!' उसी संबल को लेकर मैं प्रस्तावना की ये पंक्तियाँ लिख गया हूँ। आशा है प्रस्तुत आगम अत्यधिक लोकप्रिय होगा और स्वाध्यायप्रेमियों के लिये यह संस्करण अत्यन्त उपयोगी रहेगा।

The editor and commentator of Samvayanga is Pandit Shri Hiralalji Shastri. Pandit Hiralalji Shastri was a well-known and respected literary figure of the Digambar Jain tradition. While writing the introduction of Samvayanga, many obstacles arose. The biggest obstacle was the sudden demise of the revered Matheshwari Sadhviratna Mahasati Shri Prabhavatiji, a gifted scholar of Agams and philosophy, on January 27, 1982, along with Santhare. How can one forget the great kindness of the Matheshwari who not only gave me birth but also inspired me to walk on the path of sadhana? I hope this Agam will be very popular and this edition will be very useful for those who love to study.
