As already hinted above, a complete list of the names of these departments maintained with a changed nomenclature during the time of Jai Singh can only be prepared when Archival documents have been studied. However, the manuscript used above covers much of the information sought after. The novelties introduced by Jai Singh in the field of administration requires a further explanation from historians who find in it a weakening of the Imperial prestige following the death of Aurangzeb.
नृप कीन्हें असमेदादि जग्य, वहु दान दिये लषि द्विज गुरणग्य । यह जस फैल्यौ चहु दिसि मझार, सुनि विप्रादिक प्राये अपार ॥१६४ तिनु ब्रह्मपुरी मैं दै वसाय, धन धान्य ठौर दिय अधिक राय।

These lines at once suggest the gradual revival of the ancient Hindu traditions so forcefully put to action by Sawai Jai Singh. Considering the times, Jai Singh lived in, it was a bold attempt on his part to set aside the general conduct expected of a vassal of the Mughal Empire. How, and in what speed things took a turn is beyond our purview but it goes partially established that Jai Singh rose high having gained a marked ascendancy over the Imperial dictates. 'Ashwamedh', had long ceased to be performed, but it appeared again under his attempts. D.C.
