24-9-42 MY DEAR MUNSHIJI,
I was in due receipt of your letter of the 14th ultimo.
I am thankful to you for your kindly suggesting to change the name of the Jain Shastra Shiksha Pith which is now being conducted by the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan to that of the Shree Singhi Jaina Gnyan Pith, in view of my donation to the Bhavan—the copyright in all the works published so far in the Singhi Jain Series. But in the talk that I had with Muniji Shri Jina Vijayaji I had no idea of establishing any connection with the Jaina Shastra Shiksha Pith, and I am still of the same opinion. The Jain Shastra Shiksha Pith should continue its activities as heretofore without any interference or connection by or with me.
My only aim and object was to connect the work of the publication of the Singhi Jaina Series with the Vidya Bhavan, and for that purpose in view I propose the following terms, which I hope will be acceptable to the Executive Body of the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan.
1 I shall give the copyright of the books published
hereafter in the Singhi Jain Series, to the
Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan. 2 Muniji Sri Jina Vijayaji to remain the Chief
Editor of the Singhi Jain Series, as long as he
is willing and able to work. 3 I shall pay the emoluments of Muniji as hereto
fore and as settled between him and me hereafter.
