B. Loss of g. Only four genuine cases of the elision of an intervocalic are offered by our text: pres. 3. plur. forms in (see § 62), (776) from, the pronominal form ger ( = तुह ) 786, 86d, etc. and probably वहाऊ ( < *ववाहुय = वर्त्म + वाहू+ उक ) 2220. दीउन्ह ( = दीहुन्छ = दीर्घोष्ण ) 836 etc. is haplological (see § 40. iii). The other cases are either only apparent or doubtful: 3746, etc. is quite satisfactorily derivable from समम् (see § 33. A.) and hence we need not look for it to (= ). सइत्तिहिं 169a is not सहिताभिः as taken by the com. सइत्त ( = सयत्त ) is altogether a different word. cf. Des. VIII 5: सयत्तो मुदितः.
