सचित्र उत्तराध्ययन सूत्र
तिव्व-चण्ड-प्पगाढाओ, घोराओ अइदुस्सहा ।
महब्भयाओ भीमाओ, नरएसु वेइया मए ॥७३॥ मैंने नरकों में तीव्र, प्रचण्ड, प्रगाढ़ और घोर अत्यन्त दुःसह, महा भयंकर और भयभीत करने वाली वेदनाएँ भोगी हैं ॥७३॥ I have experienced sharp, acute, horrible, severe, intolerable, dreadful agonies in hells. (73)
जारिसा माणुसे लोए, ताया ! दीसन्ति वेयणा ।
एत्तो अणन्तगुणिया, नरएसु दुक्खवेयणा ॥७४॥ पिताजी ! इस मनुष्य लोक में जैसी वेदनाएँ दिखाई देती हैं, उससे अनन्तगुणी दुःखपूर्ण वेदनाएँकष्ट-पीड़ाएँ नरकों में होती हैं ॥७४॥
Revered Father ! Infinitely more severe sufferings and torments are in hells than the sufferings of this human world. (74)
सव्वभवेसु अस्साया, वेयणा वेइया मए ।
निमेसन्तरमित्तं पि, जं साया नत्थि वेयणा ॥७५॥ मैंने प्रायः सभी भवों-गतियों में असाता-दुःखरूप वेदना का ही अनुभव किया है। एक पल मात्र के लिए भी असाता-दुःख का अन्त नहीं आया। साता वेदना-सुख की अनुभूति नहीं हो सकी ॥७॥
I have generally experienced sorrows and sufferings in all the existences. Sorrow never ended even for a moment. I could not experience happiness for awhile. (75)
तं बिंत ऽम्मापियरो, छन्देणं पुत्त ! पव्वया ।
नवरं पुण सामण्णे, दुक्खं निप्पडिकम्मया ॥७६॥ (माता-पिता) माता-पिता ने तब मृगापुत्र से कहा-तुम अपनी इच्छा से प्रव्रज्या लेना चाहो तो ग्रहण कर लो; किन्तु विशेष बात यह है कि यदि श्रमण-जीवन में किसी कारण शरीर में रोग उत्पन्न हो जाय तो उसकी निष्प्रतिकर्मता-चिकित्सा नहीं कराई जाती-यह एक बड़ा दुःख है ॥७॥
(Parents) Then mother and father said to Mrgāputra-Son, if you want to be consecrated then accept it according to your wish. But you should know that by any cause the body of monk is caught by any kind of illness, then no remedy can be given for that disease. It is very painful. (76)
सो बिंत ऽम्मापियरो! एवमेयं जहाफुडं ।
पडिकम्मं को कुणई, अरण्णे मियपक्खिणं ? ॥७७॥ (मृगापुत्र) मृगापुत्र ने कहा-हे माताजी, पिताजी ! श्रमणमार्ग ऐसा ही है, जैसा आपने कहा है लेकिन जंगलों में मृग आदि पशु तथा पक्षियों की चिकित्सा कौन कराता है ?।।७७॥
(Mțgāputra) Then Mrgāputra said to his parents-Really the monk-order is the same, as you have told. But who gives treatment to the ailings of beasts and birds living in forests ? (77)
