सचित्र उत्तराध्ययन सूत्र ,
Acquired the instructions and studies of scriptural knowledge and courtesy-conduct from those preceptors and preachers, speaks ill for them; he is called as sinful sage. (4)
आयरिय-उवज्झायाणं, सम्मं नो पडितप्पइ ।
___ अप्पडिपूयए थद्धे, पावसमणे त्ति वुच्चई ॥५॥ जो आचार्यों और उपाध्यायों की सम्यक् प्रकार से चिन्ता-सार-संभाल नहीं करता, वह बड़ों का सम्मान न करने वाला, अभिमानी पाप-श्रमण कहलाता है ॥५॥
Who does not strive to please the preceptors and preachers, as he should do, does not respect the elder monks, such a proudy sage is called as sinful sage. (5)
सम्मद्दमाणे पाणाणि, बीयाणि हरियाणि य ।
असंजए संजयमन्नमाणे, पावसमणे ति वुच्चई ॥६॥ जो द्वीन्द्रिय आदि प्राणी, बीज और हरित वनस्पति का संमर्दन करता रहता है, स्वयं असंयमी होते हुए भी अपने आपको संयमी मानता है, वह पाप-श्रमण कहलाता है ॥६॥
Who crushes the two-sensed etc., living beings, seeds and vegetables and being nonrestrained believes himself restrained, he is called as a sinful sage. (6)
संथारं फलगं पीढं, निसेज्जं पायकम्बलं ।
अप्पमज्जियमारुहइ, पावसमणे त्ति वुच्चई ॥७॥ जो संस्तारक-विछौना, पाट, आसन, निषद्या, स्वाध्याय भूमि, पाद-प्रोंछन-पैर पोंछने के लिए कंबल का टुकड़ा-इनका प्रमार्जन किये बिना ही इन पर बैठ जाता है, वह पाप-श्रमण कहलाता है ॥७॥
Without wiping (प्रमार्जना) bed, plank, seat, study-place, feet-cleaner (पाद प्रोंछन) (a piece of blanket for cleaning the feet from dust, dirt etc.,) uses all these, is called a sinful sage. (7)
दवदवस्स चरई, पमत्ते य अभिक्खणं ।
उल्लंघणे य चण्डे य, पावसमणे त्ति वुच्चई ॥८॥ पैरों से दव-दव की आवाज करता हुआ जल्दी-जल्दी चलने वाला, बार-बार प्रमाद करने वाला, साधु-धर्म की मर्यादा का उल्लंघन करने वाला और अधिक क्रोध करने वाला पाप-श्रमण कहा जाता है ||८||
Who makes sound while walking, walks hastily, again and again becomes careless, trespasses the laws of ascetic code and wrathed in anger, such sage is called sinful sage. (8)
पडिलेहेइ पमत्ते, उवउज्झइ पायकंबलं ।
पडिलेहणाअणाउत्ते, पावसमणे त्ति वुच्चई ॥९॥ प्रमादयुक्त-असावधान होकर प्रतिलेखन करने वाला, पात्र और कंबल को जहाँ-तहाँ-इधर-उधर रख देने वाला तथा प्रतिलेखन में अनायुक्त-असावधान रहने वाला पाप-श्रमण कहलाता है ॥९॥
Who inspect his possessions negligently, keeps his earthenwares-pots and piece of blanket hither and thither and becomes careless in inspection ( mah), he is called as sinful
sage. (9)
